I have debadged the car except the pontiac logo on the fron of the car. I was wondering what it would look like to remove the door ding strips on the doors. I did this on my Ford Probe GT and loved the look. I believe they don't have them or they are an option on the 09+ models. But being as I have an 03 with the cladding etc.... I was curious what it looked like. I don't want to take it off and not like.Has anyone done this? Any pictures anywhere?

I believe someone has a picture without them. Not sure if it was photoshopped or not, but the post was something unrelated to debadging i believe. It would take some serious digging to find it. Hopefully someone remember what it was about at least and would know hwere to look.

That looks pretty slick, actually. I do believe (I may be wrong) that there are rivets on the underside?I'd thought of painting mine. I want to sandblast and paint my wheels and I thought about painting those strips the same color. Maybe a gunmetal grey. One of these days..

Ah, that was probably me! I was the one that would squeeze my old clunker next to someones fancy car that they took two spots to park in! I've even climbed out the window to do so. I was much younger back then and it pissed me off that idiots would take two spots to park one car. It was usually a new BMW, Jaguar, Maserati or something of similar value. I didn't really care if they banged my car and they probably would not because it would damage theirs.I gave up the habit years ago when people started road rage and packing iron. Now I'm the one parking away from the crowd with you though I'll NEVER take two spots for one car....ever.Dave
I always parked between the lines! No taking 1/2 each of two spots.

I always found that even with ding strips, all cars have them at diffrent levels so you get dings everywhere except the ding strip!!! Ive taken to parking further away and walking the extra 30 seconds. Around here, malls have taken to repainting the stalls SMALLER so they can cram more cars in the lot. When your average minivan has to do a 3 point turn to park and the skinny mom has trouble opening the door to get out (with another minivan beside), you're pushing the amount of space for parking. And see how your ding strip protects you when an F350 parks next to you!!!
Yeah Bodhi, I recall another thread asking the same question a while back. Someone tried to remove theirs but found they would be left with holes from where the rivets attach the strips to the car.
OK, It would look pretty good I think. But if they did something as stupid as rivet them to the car then there isn't much of a point unless I have plans to have it painted. Why use rivets when 3M 2sided tape is adequate? Must have done it for locating them to be equidistant from all areas and from one side of car to the other.
