just read the article in todays car and driver...0-60 in 5.3, 1/4 mi in 13.8 w/manual tranny...jeez those subies are getting wickedly fast..price for base m/t model is below $26,000.....BUT its still fugly!
That just seems WAY too fast for that car.The STi runs a low 13 second 1/4th mile - the Lancer Evolution runs a 13.6 I believe ...I guess I'll believe it when I see more industry reports - I just haven't heard nearly as much about the XT as the STi and ... under 14 seconds for a wagon? You think that they would have a LOT more coverage on that....
I'm checking out Popular Mechanics right now...Baja XT is coming out soon as well. Same engine as the Forester XT - but it's still just a 210 hp turbo and 235ft/lbs torque ...the STi is running 300HP ... runs a 13.52 quarter mile. (My mistake from before)Lancer Evo: 13.56 1/4th mile w/271HP engineHOW a Forester can be that fast is beyond me.It doesn't make sense to me ... did Car and Driver do a big misprint or something?
I just pulled up this thread from Matrix Owners and there was a bit of controversy over those car & Driver numbers as well:http://www.matrixowners.com/modules.php ... ster+xtI'm going out on a limb and saying that C&D is flat out wrong in this...The numbers don't just add up
quote:Baja XT is coming out soon as well. Are you SERIOUS???They didnt' learn yet that the Baja was the biggest mistake they ever made? I've seen ONE on the roads since it was introduced last year...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
maybe the cars given to the reporters to test are "touched up" like gm and ford used to do to their test fleet....maybe this subie xt test fleet is pushing a little more boost than normal xt will have or that there are different gears in the tranny cases....cant see subie selling cars that are going to eclispe their wrx models.
Well, at 210HP unless this car is running around 2,000 lbs, Car and Driver is FOS. (Full of...I remember the guy over at MO.com and he's running a turbo matrix @ 220HP TO THE WHEELS(at least some say it's up to 250hp). I think he can do 13sec 1/4th mile times - but he hasn't officially done a drag race. (This is raamaudio, I am talking about)So, when will a *good* car magazine test out the XT? And yes, should I be wrong and C&D be right, I will eat my words.
Hehehe Yeah, its been a long standing joke that subie stylist would start designing their cars (and quite for lunch when they got to the "A" pilar).Still it looks better than the previous forester. and w/ a 2.5 rather than the 2.0 turbo (also due out in the baja soon) it has more torque and skiddadles as fast as a WRX. Could this mean the WRX will get a de-tuned 2.5 frm the STI soon? According to FHI (Fuji Heavy Metal Indust.) "the Euro/JDM and US model WRX's will evolve per there own market".As a matter of fact I was thinking of doing an engine swap w/ a wrecked WRX and an older forseter a few years ago, they just beat me to it...talk about a sleeper, upgrade the turbo/intercooler, fuel injecters...etc, and then put steel wheels and hubcaps on it, and go looking for unsusspecting Honda's NE1 see the atricle mentioning that Saab is going to re-body a WRX-wagon anssell it as the new Saab 9-2?
