Periodic Clutch Maintenance?

Post by tots »

Hi -Is there any maintenance that needs to be performed on a clutch? I have 78K miles on my 04 Vibe and am not having any problems, but was wondering if there is any required maintenance. Should a clutch be replaced after some number of miles - say after 120K miles? Thanks.

I would say if it isn't slipping you shouldn't need to change. You might want to change the oil at whatever the service interval is which should be in the owners manual
Would you agree to debris acceptance? 2003 Vibe GTMods installed GM Top and Mid-Gate Spoilers, Cosmo CAI, TWM Short Shifter with Desert Eagle weighted shift knob, TWM Bronzoil Shifter Cable Bushings, Magnaflow Cat Back Exhaust, Unichip, Injen Billet Aluminum Engine/Sparkplug covers and oil cap, Optima RedTop Battery, Lineage Ground Wire KitAwaiting install: Energy Suspension Motor Mounts, DC Sports Header

There really sin't any maintenance on the clutch itself, other than to replace it and resurface the flywheel when the clutch is worn out. And +1 to Herb's recommendation to change the tranny oil. The 03's had a higher than normal bearing failure rate. I don't think it affected the 04's, but it wouldn't hurt.
