I was not able to find any specifications in Manual !Is RPM working with Cruise Control On ?

With your cruise control set, your RPM Gauge on the dash is not reading or when the cruise control is on, the light on the dash indicating the cruise control is not lighting up?

Yes, when Cruise Control is On (say 70 mile/h and RPM according) the RPM gage is stuck, is not moving ! In order to maintain the speed, RPM has to change. The car is working perfect but the RPM gage do not show any change, it is frozen to the position at Cruise setting....

No, I didn't. But I expected at hills the RPM to change because the car maintained the speed !

I never paid any attention to that - will have to check when next on highway. In the "old" days cars didn't have a tachometer, but they did have oil pressure gauges, electrical gauges, and temperature gauges that worked. I am not sure why manufacturers now think the tach is more important than the former gauges.

I used my cruise in my 08 Frosty this past weekend to to/from the cottage. The RPM's changed only when there was a really big incline on some of the roads such as M-33 between Rose City and Mio.

I believe I have seen someware that if Cruise Control is On the RPM is not working, but I forgot where and what was the car. However nothing in Vibe Manual about it and I am curious if this is normal.

No I can not agree with that ! If the gear do not change (stay in forth), RPM MUST change to keep the constant speed

In the '09-'10 models, I can't say for sure but in my '05 when I have the cruise on the tachometer or RPM gauge works. If the car doesn't shift gears, there will be a minimal difference in the RPM's. Maybe we should be asking, when you turn the CC on, do your RPM's drop to 0 or do they stay consistant?

The RPM doesn't drop to 0 , it stay at initial setting. I set the cruise at 70 mile/h , the RPM was like 2800 and there was stuck !

But as a conclusion :- I had a very smooth ride- I used 89 octane and Top Tier Detergent Gasoline (just to see if any surprise from 87 regular)- perfect car for Canada , 100 Km/h speed limit, the car fell like fish in , at 90-100 Km/h the car run super great with best fuel economy possible.

Try using the cruise control while going up a steep hill and see if the RPMs change.

Constant/steady RPM and MPH are perfectly normal when cruise is engaged and gears don't change. When negotiating an incline (no gear change) the only thing that changes is the throttle position (more air/fuel to maintain speed and rpm when going uphill). RPM and MPH change is nill, as long as there is no gear change. Again, the RPM/MPH remaining steady is normal as long as the gear doesn't change.

The RPMs will fluctuate a little (like less than 100 or so) to keep a constant speed, but it might not be enough to make the tach move.I don't think there is much to worry about with this. I just came back from a short trip on the freeway at 80 mph and the RPMs stay about 2900 the whole time.

To lovemyraffe : I see a LOT of snow around your Vibe. How the car perform in winter time, low temperature ? The idle go high at starting ?In one winter here in Michigan, the temperature was so low that at starting the serpentine belt of my Ford Explorer got broken...

The idle is a little higher than normal when it is really cold, but nothing to be worried about.
