On my way home from work today, someone decided to rear end me. Fortunately, I'm not hurt. There is a gouge in the rear bumper. The guy pulled of the road with me. Btw, this was a super busy, downtown Indianapolis street. I called the police and they were sending someone. Made a few other calls. The guy was sitting at the front of his car, an mid to late 80's Lincoln Town Car, and seemed fine and everything. Well I go to get my information out of the glove box. I hear him start his car. I figured he was getting inside to turn on the air as he was in he mid 60's I would guess, but didn't look to be in great shape. Next thing I know, the guy is LEAVING THE SCENE!!!By the time the cop gets there, the other guy is long gone. I gave him the plate number and it turns out the plate was registered to a different car!! So my guess is now I'm basicaly going to be SOL concerning getting the bumper fixed as I definately do not have money to cover my deductible. Granted it's not bad, but yet it's still not in the condition that it was in prior to some guy rear-ending me. I'll have pics up later. Time to call the insurance and see what they say.

I'm hoping a program that we use at work for "official busniess only" can help me find out some more information. I just have to wait till Tuesday before I have access to it.

yes, here in the Delta Quadrant, we chase down people like that. We don't wait for the police to show up. We then force them off the road and ensure their car rolls over once or twice. I hope they find the guy Wolfman and stick him on the barbeque!

Then some Gentlemen can calmly give him a 5 fingered face massage along with a nice steel-toed boot to knee-cap soccer practice... or just a good old fasioned s___ kicking!Hope you find the loser!!
You have full coverage on your vehicle correct? Your insurance company should cover the damage without you paying the deductible due to the other driver being at fault. Sorry to hear the weasel got away. The main thing is no one was injured and the vehicle is repairable. Yes it is an inconvenience, but you are safe. I do not see where violence would make this matter any better. In fact, that would complicate the situation even more. Yes, piano wire or fishing line does wonders, but it would get you life with no parole.

I think violence is a great way to solve problems like this. Case in point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_P._Fay Singapore has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, mostly due to the fact that strict punishments, which include violence, are practiced there. http://www.unafei.or.jp/englis...2.pdfI feel no sympathy for this man, who destroyed the property of another, and has not taken responsibility for it. I'm not saying violence is really a good thing, but, as Theodore Roosevelt said, "Walk softly and carry a big stick, you shall go far."

But your not the one who has to fix/care for the people medically.

Feel your pain.. This happened to me in my previous car, my mustang. It misaligned my bumper and mashed in my rear tail light... Some old crappy red truck hit me then took off.. was never fixed..
Someone also has to fix the car, financially. Sure, that's what insurance is for, but insurance would also be cheaper if there were fewer claims like this as well.

Thanks for all of the support!!! Just another reason why GenVibe is the greatest forum out there!!My insurance company stated that my deductible will be lower than normal since they would claim it as an unisured motorist.Yeah, I constantly look in the rear and side view mirrors a lot anyways. Had I not been this time, it would have been even worse.I'll get the pic up later today.

sorry to hear about the incident. if they caught that guy he might be arrested. my friend got into a similar accident but the guy ran away because his car was not driveable...police caught the guy later that night and arrested him i think. hopefully everything turns out alrite.
Something's going bad in our country. There doesn't seem to be much of a sence of honesty any more. People that leave a scene of any accident are cowards. I hope you can get your car fixed and glad you didn't get hurt.
