Amplifier question. Powercube and dynamic power?

Post by L5K »

So I'm pretty sure I want to get one of these two Fosgate amplifiers, but I am a little perplexed about the price difference in them.I will be using it to power only one sub, but that shouldn't make too much difference I wouldn't imagine. The first one, the P300-1 is a one channel amp and is rated at 150w RMS @4ohm and has what RF calls "dynamic power" of 240w RMS @4ohmThe second one is the P300-2, two channels, bridged it is 300w RMS @4ohm, but the "dynamic power" of this is rated at only 114w @4ohmWhat is this "dynamic power" measurement? I understand that it is some sort of measurement by some device called a powercube, but what I don't get is where it comes into play, or how I guess. Basically it confuses me because the P300-1, which on paper should be weaker, actually has a much better rating according to this. Also, while being worse on paper, the price tag for it is higher. Does anyone understand how this all works? Other than it just does lol.
