Hi,Both of my Vibe fog lights are broken. There're still working, but, the glass is on them is broken. I'm doing a lot of driving... I guess I it a few rocks on the highway.Anyone is having the same problems ? Is it normal ? Is there more resistant fog lights out there ?
My passenger side glass is also broken. It still works. I must have taken a stone of the glass. I guess that is the risk when driving 2.5k miles a month.
If you don't encounter rocky roads or follow trucks shedding gravel, your fog lights may have been broken by a vandel. It would be an unusual coincidence that BOTH lights were broken accidently, without other damage evident on the front of the car. Fog lights are right at "kick with your shoe" level.Do you leave the Vibe parked outside at night? Got any teenage boys living in the neighborhood? Where the car was parked when you noticed the broken fog lenses, is there any broken glass still on the ground? If it WAS vandalism, your insurance may pay to have them replaced. You may need to file a police report though.KSNeptune
Sounds like vandals dude. I had a ligh t bulb explode inside the housing, and it didn't shatter the glass -- it broke a chunk of it off, but didn't shatter it. That's wicked thick glass -- it takes a lot to break it...

FYI:Definitely look for signs of vandalism. To replace the fog assemblies (glass is not available separately, the whole assembly must be replaced) is $148 (list price) PER LIGHT!P/N: 88969944

I smell upgrade time. Since the fogs are a somewhat standard size, you can probably find an aftermakert pair that are brighter and better for the price of one OEM light. A little work with a Dremel on the old lights and you got your bracket(s) to mount your new ones.Just a thought.

I don't think it's vandals. The front of my car got rocks impact all over it. I do 100km a day on the higtway... This winter, my front glass was chip by a big ice morcel coming form the top of a 18 wheels truck. The fog are still working, there just crack. If anyone know aftermarket fogs that could work and not as expensive as the original... Please let me know.
Any luck on finding some aftermarket ones that would fit? I just discovered a huge rock and about a 3rd of my fog lamp cover missing while I was installing my hood deflector (because of the TWO stone chips I got in ONE day last week and multiple stone chips in the hood). Anyway, is the part number, 88969944, the right one to order to follow the instructions in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4594 ?
Is the $211 for a set of 2, or just one lamp? I'm just a little concerned that this one http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm does not show a picture of what it is. I doubt the Matrix ones are any tougher than the Vibe ones though and since my car seems to be a rock and stone magnet lately, I should just get the cheapest one.
I just don't u nderstand how they broke dude...them things are MAD thick! Besides, The way they're recessed, I just don't see any signs of them being hit by debris...no scratches or marks on them anywhere...You must have some killer rocks out there...seek and destroy or something...lol...

I don't understand how it broke either! There is something big and dark in there, I'm suspecting the culprit rock. I only takd 3 different roads to work - but they are all expressways and I do about 75 or 80 when it's not bumper-to-bumper. I pay attention and stay away from huge trucks, but I think every time I hear any little grain of sand hit my car, I swear it leaves its mark. The first stone chip in my windshield spread from the time it happened in the morning until lunch, so I had to get it filled that fast. The second is minor, so I'm just going to pretend I didn't notice it. I think I have only driven down a dirt road like 2 times ever with this car. Someone should design a bubble for my vibe! (and I'm a she - not a he. )
I noticed that the plastic cover (or glass) over my driver side fog light is broken. I also have some scratches on the under-side of the bumper (must have hit something or a snow drift this past winter) my light is still working though. I will probably just let it go and when the light burns out try to find a good after-market replacement...

He said it's a fitting for some tool or something. It must have fallen off a truck and hit my fog lamp with one of the angles. It's pretty cool looking though. I might make a necklace or bracelet out of it.
What you have there is a carbide indexable turning tool. These are used in conjunction with a hool holder (clamp) and mounted to a tool post (mount) and used to machine steel with a lathe. Very unusual to find one of these in a car light. Do live or drive around any Machine or Tool & Die shops? The one you have there looks very much like a Kennametel brand http://www.kennametal.com/en/new_catalo ... stid=38565

I figure it just flew into it while I was driving, but why something like that would be on the road, I'm not sure. I don't even know when it happened. I just discovered it one day. quote:crazy and expensive...GM oem fog lamps $140.00 + each Yeah, no kidding. My dad put clear tape on it today, which I think looks totally ghetto, and I'll probably take it off soon. I guess it's just time to bite the bullet and buy a new one.
