Abnormal - removing wing/spoiler!

Post by MidKnight »

Hello all.I just purchased a new-to-me Vibe. 04 with M&T and only 29k miles. I love it. Love. It. However, I'm getting past the point in my life where I want to emulate the Fast and the Furious (if I ever did). The Vibe has a wing at the back of the roof AND a mid gate spoiler. That's one too many. I can deal with the wing or the spoiler, but not both. As I've never put one on a car before, I assume that there were holes drilled into the body panels and the wings affixed to them. Taking them off would result in a marred exterior... right?Or am I wrong? Is there any way to get rid of one of my aerodynamic add-ons?Thanks in advance for any advice, comments or tips.

IB the mid spoiler has 4 screws, not sure about the upper one... might be best to leave the middle one... IF the holes are in good shape, you "could" cover them with some sort of sticker, to just try and hide the 4 holes, if you liked.. I'm sure you could sell them here as well.. .

top 4 screws. i installed both of mine. its easier to leave it on. than to try and cover the holes. but if one has to go. the top would be less visible and easier to cover.

I don't have either on my car and also do not desire either...either.One more nook and cranny to wash and wax. I always chuckle when I see the teenagers "ricers" with the big wing on the back, it just screams "I AM JUST A KID WITH A CAR!!!!" To my wife and I it looks like a giant handle a preschooler would have on a push toy. The upside to the wings is that they function like a warning sign. The wing without the use of words communicates to be on your alert, that this car is being operated by an inexperienced operator and to expect the unexpected at any moment.Dave

I only like the factory spoiler on the 09 and up GTs. IMO the ones from the earlier years look like they were designed for a different vehicle... Which is why my 03 has no spoilers. I have thought about seeing the feasibility of putting an 09 spoiler on an earlier Vibe, but I don't think it would be worth the effort, plus I doubt it would look right with the roof rack.
