I have been looking into this also... The Toyota Chrome Exhaust Tip that is available as an accessory for the Matrix is something like $140 or $180 dollars which is ridiculous. I will post some more information when I find it accordingly. I will be contacting the manufacturer of these tips which is not Toyota and see if another one will fit.

Thanks for your quick responses. Based on another member's profile, I checked Pep Boys and they seemed to have a good selection of stainless steel / chrome tips but they were either too small to fit over our existing tailpipe or were too long. From what I measured from my car, I think a 5-6" tip may work on our 2.5" dia. pipe. Price is an issue and I can't imagine spending more than $30-40. I'll keep searching but thanks to everyone on your input.
I just called the manufacturer, yet they are closed. I will try again tomorrow and ask them a few questions regarding the inner diameter and length of various exhaust tips

Here's a link to what I got:http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/doublewtips.aspI put the rolled straight cut tip on my Civic and Accord in the 3.5" diameter. It fit the Civic cut out perfect and looks great. The Accord not so much because the 4-cyl. had no cut out in the bumper, so it had to angle down.On the Vibe I got a quote for one of these tips for $65 - which I think is completely worth it over a clamp on tip or a chrome (prone to rust) tip.On the Vibe they installed a knock-off no name brand (still SS and lifetime warranty) but it was only 3" diameter. I would have liked it bigger like on the Civic but I think the cut out on the 2.4L base is too small for 3.5". I got the angle cut and think that looks best. However, from 10 feet away it would be hard to tell it isn't just the stock pipe. A bit more "stealth" than I'd like, lol.

I also got one at AutoZone this morning and just put it on. The impovement in appearance is easily worth the fifteen bucks. It's a tight fit and a few taps with a rubber mallet helps. Don't put it in further than you want though, 'cause you'll never pull it out.
Fellow Members, thanks for your help and insight. I think I bought the same one as Heinz1 at AutoZone. It installed very easily and was easy to position and attach using the hose clamp that was included. I made sure to put the screw at the top so that it can't be easily seen. Check out the attached pic. The make of the tip is 3A Racing (www.3aracing.com) and the model number is 62-9001. The inlet size is 2 3/8 and is 5" long. I agree that it is $15 well spent. Happy motoring!
DO NOT-I repeat DO NOT buy the 3A Racing tip from Autozone! Stainless steel my (removed). The one I got for christmas and installed in Feb is covered in rust, inside and out. Worse yet, it was a gift and I don't have a receipt.

Mine has looked new ever since I put it on last September.
My 09 GT Exhaust Tip went MIA. I noticed it had fell off a couple of weeks ago, it looks like cheap spot welds were holding the original on. I replaced it with one from JC Whitney, and it fits great. I had to grind the spot welds just a bit to get it to slid on to where I like it.

Ooh, I'm glad I found this post. I've been planning on adding an exhaust tip to look a little shinier, but not wanting to pay for the GT one of course. Any further reviews or new finds on any of this? I've got the 2.4L non-GT if that helps any.

I discovered this when I was washing my mom's '09 GT back in March and the tip came right off in my hand. I took both our GTs to a local exhaust shop and had them tach (sp?) welded for $10.00 each. They've been fine ever since.

I remember your post , the exhaust tip seemed to be fastened to the sleeve pretty good so I just forgot about it, funny thing though is the sleeve was not there either, so they both departed the vehicle out on the highway somewhere. I hope it did not hit anybody when it came off.

The manufacturer of this exhaust tip is the same as the one who made it for the 2003-2008 Vibe (same style clamp). They last and do not fall off. Polish up very nice too. Quality is top notch, ask any owner who has one.

I would definitely get it welded on to avoid that problem.I'm sure it's a great quality product, I just can't see actually paying $120+ for a tiny little muffler tip . Just my $.02.

If the vibe was under warranty I would have the original exhaust tip, but there is no way I am paying the asking price for original equipment that may fall off again, anyway this exhaust tip is a good compromise for me.

You could have made the dealer get you a new one for free and weld it. Obviously, as I said in my thread about it, fortunately my mom's came off in my hand and not going down the road, but having it welded would eliminate the chance of it going anywhere and having it welded was about the same or cheaper than buying an entirely new aftermarket tip so it was well worth it to me. I still can't believe the cheap quality of the tip though. The ones on my '02 Sunfire GT were welded all the way around and were a nice double wall tip like you'd get aftermarket. Someone really dropped the ball with the '09-'10 GT tips .Quote, originally posted by ou.grizzly »Have had one on our 2004 Vibe since 2003 and it was never stolen.Quote, originally posted by Houston »I've had extensions on one vehicle or another since 1964 without having any stolen.I'm not saying it's going to happen to everyone, but the one I had on our '94 Pontiac Sunbird was stolen and I live in the freaking boonies. I'd much rather pay for a Magnaflow SS tip and have it tack welded on. About 1/2 price of the Toyota tip, looks almost exactly the same and the quality is just as good.
