For winter I plan on swapping my 17's for 16's and Blizz"s. Are the tire sensors in the valve stems ? Anybody know if sensors can be fitted on the 16 inch rims or do I have to pull the fuse on the sensors for winter time. Mark

I made the switch to 16 inch steel rims last winter with no sensors. The light flashes for a minute and then stays lit. Over time you don,t even see it anymore. When I put my 17 inch alloys back in the spring, the sensors worked normally without any reset or any trip to the dealer.

Not having to pay to recalibrate the system when the summer wheels are re-installed sounds good to me.

When selecting options for your car to assure proper fitment, there's a choice between rubber valve stems and metal valve stems. I originally chose rubber, and the TPMS sensors were offered to me at $31 each. When I found out that the sensors actually had metal valve stems, I went back to change the order and the price went up to (brace yourself) $88 per sensor. I asked tirerack what the difference was, and they said they didn't know...they only knew that the cheaper sensors don't work with Pontiac's TPMS.--Chris
$88 times four for a set of sensors is outrageous. For most of my life there wasn't such a thing, so I'm not going to sweat not having them when the winter wheels/tires are on the Vibe.
