Alright guys, I know you are biased but....

Post by injun_josh »

I am about to pay my vibe gt off. Now my initial plan was to get an rx-8, but i have been thinking. right now if i sold my vibe i could get either a rx8, a wrx, a 03 or 04 evo, or i could keep the vibe and do everything i want too to it for abour 4000. so my question is what would you do? have a staock rx8, wrx, or evo, OR have a fully modded out vibe.???

What would be your mod plans for the Vibe? For $4000 you could turbo it...that would be the only mod you'd need...lol. Of the 4 you listed, I would go with the WRX if you can swing it.

Isn't the GT engine the one that will self-destruct if fitted with an underdrive pulley?

rx8, a wrx, a 03 or 04 evohmmm..I see WAYYY too many WRX's, not soo many Evo's and even less RX8's.I think the RX8 is underpowered (but then again, coming from a Vibe (even a GT) it probably wouldn't be so underpowered)I'd go EVO, it's not worth putting $4k into the vibe and still not be able to contend with the WRX or Evo.

Depends on if you want to sell a perfectly good, reliable vibe that you know the history on....for a USED, beat on, performance car, that WILL need lots of money for maintenance AND insurance cost. Ive been down this road...they are not cheap, but I had a new one. A evo/wrx will be beat to hell and need some money for tune ups and what if something breaks, its going to cost more than the vibe to fix. If you have the money to do this, evo hands down is better than a subie. They mod easy, get huge hp and that engine is more solid than the 2.5 from those years with the bad headgasket. I love rx8's, they handle well...but after codriving some evo's..mmm they are nice on the track.

Mazda RX8 if that is the kind of car you want.Do they make that in a convertible? Probably not. Sometime before I die I would like to have another convertible. It doesn't have to be fast - just cool.

I would go with a WRX. You can get the wagon version and keep all the functionality that you currently have with the Vibe.

You would be FAR better off, having a car that takes well to mods to begin with... Vibes don't take to mods like WRX's and EVO's do... Vibes don't handle like they do either... I hate to say it, but even after all the mods on the Vibe, you likely STILL wouldn't reach the performance level of the mentioned cars... It's just not what is was destined to be... Just last night I was driving home from the movies in some pretty heavy rain... The Vibe was all over the place, hydroplaning here and there.. (once, rather bad as I was passing someone, DOH) I kept thinking to myself how that wouldn't be happening if I was in my Subie.. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Vibe, but it can't come close to the feeling of confidence a Subie can give you in bad weather.. I've never driven an AWD Vibe, good or bad weather, so I can't say anything about them... BUT, if you are planning on having a year round DD car, I wouldn't touch a RX-8, not enough room, crazy blind spots... if you get snow, you get to deal with RWD... The EVO, well, I don't know much about'em, i'm a Subie guy, I do know they can be AMAZING... I never see them in the winter though... A Subaru really becomes FUN in the winter.. That is when they really come into their own.. lol. I miss my beater Subie sooooo much, it's not even funny... It gets so much worse when snow flies... You just don't get to do things like this, with a lot of cars... lol... My Subie worked as much as some peoples TRUCKS.. lol..
