Need help_CD is Ejected Right After Insertion

Hi, everyone. The factory CD receiver on my 2005 Vibe failed today. When I insert a disk, a noise (sounds like an unbalanced disk spinning in the slot) comes out, and then the disk is ejected. I followed the trouble shooting in the repair manual. I changed and cleaned the disks, but it didn't help. Here's the trouble shooting from the manual: The manual suggests replacing the CD receiver. Well, I have feeling that the ejecting is not a serious problem, maybe I can mend it. Is there anyone who has solved this kind of problem? Please share your experience. Thanks. Get one of those cleaner cds (the ones with brushes built into the disc.) and/or a can of compressed air from the computer store.Or maybe it's time for an upgrade?

is this a single disc headunit?Sounds like the receiver cannot get the cd to load properly onto the spindle. If it cannot seat the disc it should eject it. Usually there are 2 motors or 1 with gears to load. 1 to take cd in and 1 to move parts inside to move the disc spindle up so the disc is loaded and can spin. Sounds like that 2nd operation isnt working.

I don't know how well the video recreates the actual sound, but that sounds terrible. These radios tend to cook CDs, they can get quite hot. Looks like a hoime burned CD in the video. I don't know if you ever used any of thiose adhesive (sticker) CD labels, but you really want to avoid using them in the car. I had one where the heat softened the glue and the label got all wrinkled and wouldn't play again. If you have used them in the car, check your disks, see if one of them is missing a label. It's pretty easy to pull the radio out. just pull off the trim peice, then four 10 mm screws, undo the connectors. The top and bottom panels of the radio just pry off. Might be worth taking the thing apart to see if there is something obvious, foreign matter, stripped off gear teeth, whatever.

Thank you for the answers. I live in Miami, and I've noticed that the CD kept in the player gets very hot. They also get scratched even I change them very carefully. So usually I make a copy for using in the car.

I was just in Miami a couple of weeks ago....IMO, if you can wing it, it may be time for an upgrade, I had a world of problems with the factory head after it was replaced by the dealer the first time. (Cooked CDs, skipping discs etc...)When that happened, i just decided to nip it and get what i really wanted...http://www.crutchfield.com/App...=5684

Without having the unit specific service manual, there isn't much hope... The aftermarket offers far better sound and far more options, cheap too, these days..
