Question... possible problem

Post by 09vGT »

So.. I've just started to notice this but when I take off at slow speeds.. not even fast, just normal accelerating my car whistles.. a lot.. when I'm at higher speeds I don't notice it.. Also, after taking off from a dead stop and mashing the gas to the floor when reached a higher speed, like 65 or 70 MPH, a HORRIBLE smell, like sewage, starts coming through the air vents. It doesn't last very long, but long enough for me to have to crack a window or the sunroof.. Any idea's on these two issues? Thanks!

Did you have Bub Rub install a whistle tip for you or something? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...ex=10 "It's just decoration, man. That's it and that's all."

Has the car been sitting for a few hours, when this happens? Did you have your AC on? If so sounds like the condensation didn't evap the water from the condensor. Stagnant water will cause this smell.

Yeah, the car has been setting for a couple of hours when it happens... but... it doesn't smell like that all the time.. Like today when I came home from school. The car had been setting for like four hours in 97 degree heat... air was used in the morning when i went for school. But, when i start the car and start to drive the air smells fine, like a new car smell. I have about a 45 minute commute and after driving for about 20 minutes is when i gunned it to pass another car on a two lane road. Then thats when the smell hits.. all at once... then as im cruising down the road it goes away. Is this something i should have the dealer check out.. Its an 09 GT.

My 2009 with 2k miles has never done anything like that. I have no idea. But that doesn't stop me from a wild a$$ guess.High sulphur gasoline?

i have the same smell when i go to gun it too. i think it just might be a few things at once; high sulfur gas and the cat working really hard.

Do you have the manual transmission or the auto? I've been noticing that on my 09 GT, the clutch squeeks a bit when I am driving slow. It happens especially when I feather the clutch.

But there's a simple way to make sure your Vibe GT doesn't pass those stink bombs ever again. Don't gun your car.

That remix reminds me of the Alabama Leprechaun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nda_OSWeyn8 And the remix that accompanied it as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTYhwf_3so8 The "amateur sketch" makes me laugh every time...

Anybody know exactly what these front plastic flaps do on the 2009 & 2010 vibes?

They are little aerodynamic devices that help you get slightly better gas mileage.

You would think it would block the wind resulting in poor gas milage...hmmm Thanks you come through again!
