Hello everyone,I hope you can help me with this. I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe and performed a tune up earlier today. I put NGK Iridium IX plugs in and gapped them to 0.44. When the AC is off it seems like it runs great but now when I turn the ac on, the ac will engage everytime I step on the gas, and disengage when I let the gas off. It makes the car shake in first gear. I did disconnect the battery when I performed the tuneup. I don't think this is normal and I don't think I broke anything either. Tuneup was very easy to do.EDIT: I would like to add that it is around 95 degrees outside, if that makes a difference.Anyone have any input? Thanks for your help in advance.Robert
Upon further inspection, I have found that this cannot be related to tune up but I let the car run with the ac full blast and the ac compressor started to click on and off in 5 second intervals. Sounds like a relay problem to me. Anyone know where this is located?Thanksrobert
That's how a compressor works, it doesn't run constantly. Does the ac work okay?If it was a bad relay, it's not com on at all. Stop worrying, and just drive it.
I know an AC compressor turns on and off. Just not every 5 seconds. This is not normal. It just keeps switching on and off while the car is idle every 5 seconds. It affects the acceleration and it makes it seem like the car is misfiring. The ac blows warm when this happens too. I started it up later on when it cooled down to 78 degrees outside and it worked just fine, the ac was even blowing ice cold. It seems like when it was 95 degrees out this was happening.I have had a bad fuel pump relay that worked most of the time. Every once in a while, the car would just shut off for no reason. I took the relay out and broke it open and found the copper all discolored(purple) which means that it was burning out.
