http://www.fordvehicles.com/transitconn ... .-sma/I've been looking into researching and applying through grants for a fire police vehicle for my fire company. In my opinion this be'd near perfect. Any thoughts? We have a limited budget and these vehicles have a base MSRP of $21,47we run about 150 calls a year lil more or less and right now I use my personal vehicle and dont get reimbursed for gas money or wear and tear on the vibefire police in PA are all volunteer and need basic traffic supplies such as 28 inch reflective traffic conestraffic signsflaressafety vestsas well vehicle would be have to be fitted with emergency lights and reflective markingsanyone care to take to experiment with photoshop?side would say Upper Frederick Special Fire Police
Almost looks like a sprinter, from the pics you could almost fit a gurney in there, maybe take a toolbox/bench out..Do you get reimbursed for installing the service equipment/graphics??

Im a volunteer any install since our fire companys is all volunteer we would pay someone to get it professionally done or just volunteer the times ourself if it could be done easily.Supposedly these Transit Connects are lasting approximatly 4 days on dealer lots!stopped by my local dealer to check out two that my dad said were on the lot he stopped into visit day before and when I went they were gone except for one all the way back for parts department, took a quick pic parked next to it on my cell phone, first time got to see one up close and personal and first impression I like it very much its only a lil bit longer then the vibe , post pic when its gets to my email accountAn electric version is due to arrive in select dealers 2010 and since our vehicles sit idling on the road for sometime hours at a time Im very curious if it be more beneficial to wait for that version as long as the price isnt way higher
trying to stay low on the cost of this vehicle as the lower the cost the more likely it will become a reality heres some pics of what other fire companies in our county usehttp://www.montcofp.org/Vehicles.htmbelow are the two styles i favor the most but they obviously cost well over 40k
Quote, originally posted by star_deceiver »The Ford dealer here has one on display.... too bad you can't get one with a diesel or a stick!but the diesel would get WAY better mileage. This would be a perfect vehicle for that IMO. Also its euro spec so its probably a very solid car/van/thing.
So I dont understand - are you Police or Fire or both? For what you suggest it looks like a great size. Its great to see some variety of vehicles in the US.
A fantastic solution to a problem that need not exist!

My HVAC guy recently bought one to replace his Econoline. He says he loves it. He claims to get 30 m.p.g. He says he saves enough on gas each to make the payments. I think he's full of hot air. Get it? HVAC guy full of hot air??? Anybody???
