New to Vibe

Post by 09vGT »

Just purchased a silver loaded 2009 Vibe GT about 2 weeks ago. Really happy with my choice. Wondering about gas though.. Mixed city highway driving I get around 24-25 MPG. Is this around what everyone else gets. I drive pretty light... Thanks!

Your gas mileage

Post by izza2me »

It depends on the engine and tranny package. I was told that the 1.8 with auto tranny can get low 30s. The AWD with auto trans is said to be the most slugish and poor mileage. The more powerful GT is said to be the fastest with 6 manual trans.I have 2 base models with 1.8 auto trans. My daughter drives the 05, and I the 06 hot red. I just filled both up, so I don't know yet.I was shocked when I gassed up my Prius and used 10 gallons to go 690 miles. First time in 6500 miles it did that good. I expect about 30mpg in my Vibe.

I believe you need to read up on the 2009 models, the 1zz and 2zz engines are gone, as is the 6 speed.I can't comment on the 2az but the 2zr will give you mid 30's, high 30's on the highway!

I am sorry. What was I thinking? It was late. I missed the fact that we were talking about a GT. Oh, thanks for the welcome kid.

+1 on 24-25 on hard driving. I was getting 29-30 on my 2005, but it is more fun driving now with the 2009 GT :-)

Thanks! It's about time another '09 Liquid Platinum Metallic GT showed up around here ! I just got gas earlier today and I got 27.6 mpg. I have had it for about four months now and it has just over 5100 miles. Since I got it I have averaged between 25 and 27 mpg for daily driving which is mainly city with some country (highway) driving five out of seven days of the week. I took a road trip with it the week after I first got it and got just over 30 mpg on the highway. I haven't really done all highway driving since, but I'm sure I could probably get at least 32 mpg. My driving is "spirited" I guess you could say. I don't pound on the gas, but I do like to hear that K&N intake every now and again . Also, my mileage does seem to have improved by a mile or so with the addition of the K&N intake.

Just checked mileage today.. I got around 28. That was with a 45 minute trip with cruise set at around 65 most of the way. Also, when getting insurance on the car, they said that that car had an alarm.. I can't figure the alarm out. I actually dont' think it has one.. I can never get the security light to blink. Anyway i could find out for sure?

The GT car alarm light should be (I believe) beside the traction control deactivation button.

Hello I would like you to meet my little friend I love the Lava Red. Its just the basic automatic but it reminds me of my 1966 Toyota Corona. A car that drove forever.

I believe the alarm was an option and therefore was not standard which means you might not have it, but you more than likely probably do.Read through the owner's manual about how to set the alarm. I thought that by hitting the lock button it sets the alarm, but that is not the case according to the owner's manual. Apparently, you have to press and hold down the alarm button on the remote to set the alarm .

On the owners manual it says, if i remember right, that the light is to the left of the radio inside the dark square that gives passenger airbag status. I bought the car used so i don't have access to the window sticker. If i hold the alarm button it sounds the panic alarm. If i hit the lock button the lights flash and thats it.. no interior blinking light.. just a little confused.. could the dealer say for sure...?

I have the theft deterrent system on mine. You do not need to to anything but lock the doors with your remote. after 30 sec. the security light will stop blinking and stay on all the time. You can test the system if you have a security system by... To test the alarm:1. Open all the windows.2. Set the system as describedin the previous procedure. The doors and liftgate shouldbe locked with the key or RKEtransmitter. Be sure to wait untilthe security light starts flashing.3. Unlock the driver door from theinside. The system shouldactivate the alarm.4. Stop the alarm as described inTo turn it off the alarm just hit your remote door unlock button.

09vGT you should also have a security button by your traction control switch if your vibe came equipped with the theft deterrent alarm system. http://i160.photobucket.com/al..._imag

Oh, i don't have the button, so i guess i don't have an alarm, weird, seems they would've made this standard.. especially on the higher trim level. I drove all highway with a full tank of gas and used 1/4 of it.. filled it up to full and i had gotten 34MPG :D!
