Dipstick Reading on an '09

Post by zoomie »

Ive read many a dipstick but this one on my '09 is vague. Ive tried checking it 5 min after shutdown and also when its completely cold. Yes I wipe it clean and re-insert it... The thing is that there is a solid line of oil across it a 1/3 of the way up from the first dimple from the second. But then it starts to run squiggly at least an inch above the upper dimple mark. I had the oil changed at a GM dealership and the tech was experienced, but maybe complacent...Ive read about too much oil in a crankcase producing higher emissions, and lower fuel economy, I dont have a digital camera to post a pic unfortunately.

That's from oil on the inside of the dipstick tube. Sometimes it can be difficult to see the level when new oil is put in.
