Which wheels size would be the perfect fit?

Post by Vibe2009 »

Ok, so I have a 2009 vibe with 1SC which comes with the 17in chrome clad wheels....I am looking to replace the rims with these TSW shown below. The question is, which size will be a direct fit? I would like to use my stock tires just to save money.http://www.1010tires.com/wheel...Croft thx

I think the 2.4L is a 5x114... So the 5x114.5 and the +40 offset...

According to TSW fitting guide for 2009 Matrix (they dont have 09 vibe~)... this suggest 17x8, 5x114.3 and 40 offset....This sounds right than...Does the rims and ride change much if I go with a rim that has an "lip", such as these: Quote, originally posted by Sublimewind »I think the 2.4L is a 5x114... Having the lip, likely changes the offset... FWD cars have higher offsets so the wheels face is closer to the outer edge of the rim... But, if it's a 35-40 offset, it in theory, should work... I like the first option FAR more than the second... I think the first set would just look amazing.. I like that style of wheel..

I see some of the rims say something like 38+ offset, why is the plus there? If I buy a rim that the offset is a bit more than factory, what will happen?

If you go with a different offset than OEM, you might end up with a wheel/tire combo that sticks out beyond the wheel well edge or farther inside the wheel well, depending the direction you go. On first gen Vibes, the steel wheel has 39 mm offset. The 17 inch alloy option had a 45 mm offset. I went with a 17x7 alloy with a 38 mm offset. I could have gone out to 35 mm offset and still stay inside the wheel well (a very flush fit)... so there is a range we can use. That said, I'm not sure what range you can use on a 2nd gen Vibe. Personally I don't like the look of wheels sticking out beyond the bodywork or stuck way inside like you see on vintage 1950s cars . But that's just me.The TSW wheels you picked out are really nice looking ... but the price is Stunning! Dont they off this wheel silver painted or machined for less? You also might want to call 1010tires to see if the wheel comes with that much lip for a front wheel drive car. The first picture is the more common fitment look for this type of car. The second wheel pictured, usually goes on a rear wheel drive car.
