Nissan Electric - Remind you of anyone?

Post by kostby »

Looks like it fell right out of the Vibe mold - C-pillar reverse angle, foglamp recesses and all.Quote, originally posted by Wired.com-Autopia »Nissan showed off its latest EV prototype today, a slick four-door, five-passenger hatchback that’s good for 100 miles and tells you when and where to charge up.Although it’s just a mule wearing a Tiida body, the car provides the best glimpse yet of the production EV we’ll see for the first time Sunday. Nissan plans to offer an all-electric vehicle in Japan and the United States next year, then roll it out globally in 2012.Link to full article --> http://www.wired.com/autopia/2009/07/nissan-ev/My next 'Vibe' may be a Nissan???The Tiida has a very Cobalt-looking 4-door sedan version too.Link to english-language Nissan Tiida page --> http://www.tiida-me.com/english/index.html

More like, "You need to recharge in 20 miles." The Government-mandated Onboard Electricity Usage Monitoring Cop says, "You filled up yesterday, and you've been using air conditioning, playing tunes very loud, and driving 0.51 mph over the posted speed limit. Sorry, you're an inconsiderate environmental abuser, and can't fill up again until 2010, subject to a government audit of your taxes and your other lifestyle choices."

Don't worry, that's either coming or is already here...Government-mandated Onboard Electricity Usage Monitoring Cop: Aka, pay as you drive insurance/pay by the mile tax!Using a/c: Still using R134??? Try recharging in 5 years when they switch to something a little safer and a lot more expensive.Driving 0.51 mph over the posted speed limit: Vascar.... (look it up, similar to photo radar but more big-brotheresque)A simple electric car that goes 100miles only costs about $10000 for a really GOOD conversion so why pay $25000+ ?????

If it is the later, please post a link. If the former, no car that I would want comes in at less than $15,000 so with conversion I'm at $25,000 anyway.

http://www.electroauto.com/index.htmlSince your ripping out half of the drive train, there's no point in using a brand new car.

That's what I thought. The price of the only kit that will give me the range that I need is over $14,000. Then I have to install that kit myself into a car that I can't fit into. Even if I got the doner car for free, it's still a lot of money to go into an old car. At the end of the day, it makes more sense to me to buy a used Prius. http://www.cars.com/go/search/...=true

But I've always wondered what happens, and how does the car react to driving in, -30 and below??? Do full electric cars, conversions as well, still operate properly? My Sunfire will start, without the block heater plugged in, when it's below -30... I'm sure the Vibe will as well. http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr....aspxDoes anyone have mileage details of a Prius w/ fully studded winter tires in the dead of winter?
