Well, I finally received and installed the K&N Typhoon cold air intake and AEM DryFlow filter on my '09 GT last week. I have always preferred the AEM filters and just didn't want to take any chances with the K&N oiled filter so the extra $45 was well worth it. In total it ended up costing approximately $330.00. Both the intake and AEM filter were purchased on eBay. The installation was easy and the fitment is great. My only complaint is that I couldn't get the screw out of the EVAP solenoid so I could attach the new bracket to it, so I ended up zip tying the EVAP solenoid to the intake tube bracket. Honestly, zip tying it ended up being much better though because I had a hard enough time as it was trying to screw the intake tube bracket to the underside of the intake and trying to also screw the EVAP solenoid bracket to the underside of the intake would have made it even worse. When cruising it sounds like I have a very nice sounding aftermarket exhaust setup. It's loud enough to make the driving experience enjoyable, but it's not too loud that it becomes annoying or droning. When I hit the gas it gets really loud though, considering it's just an intake. All in all, I highly recommend it to every '09-'10 2.4L Vibe/Matrix owner. It is well worth the time and money. You will not be disappointed with it.

From what I have read on here and elsewhere, it will not void the warranty because the factory sensors, hoses, etc. hook up exactly like they do on the stock setup. Since it was relatively easy to install though, I figure if I do ever take it in for warranty work I will probably just put the stock setup back on to make 100% sure they don't give me any problems about the warranty.I highly recommend you get an AEM DryFlow filter (I used a #21-203DK) for it because the AEM filter doesn't use oil like the K&N filter does. Some people have had problems with over-oiling the K&N filter and it causes problems for the sensors and stuff that are attached to the intake and that would definitely NOT be covered under your warranty. When you do go to buy one, check out TRENDS AUTOMOTIVE on eBay. They had the best prices of anyone I could find.

Thanks.Quote, originally posted by MarkM04 »Where is it getting the cold air from? There is a plastic tube that is there from the factory. It runs from down behind the front bumper up to the driver's side of the heat shield. It connects into the heat shield thus forcing cooler air from near the ground right into the filter. I wish someone with a ScanGauge could verify that the IAT is actually reduced after one of those aftermarket CAI installs. It just seems to me that with a metal tube (heat sink) and open air box (engine compartment heat) that IAT would be higher rather than lower. It does look cool though.

I can clearly tell when I accelerate that the performance is increased. I'm not saying it makes massive amounts of horsepower, but any moron could tell it has made a positive difference.

Any thoughts?I'm not really looking to do anything else to the Vibe, so it would be a good idea for someone I suppose, but not really my thing. I do however wish they made a G8 style hood for the Vibe GT. Now that would look killer!
