Aftermarket HU install kits, which one to get?

Post by L5K »

Does it really matter which dash kit I get? Both Schosche and Metra make them. I've never personally had a problem with either, but my cousin had a Blazer and the install kit he used first (no clue which brand) stuck out from the dash like 3/4 of an inch. This was remedied with a different brand of install kit. So, are both nice and flush and work well in the Vibe, or is one preferred over the other?(knowing my luck nobody will know)

get a HU from crutchfield.com, they will give you everything you need. wiring harness, dash kit, antenna adapter, install instruction sheets for HU and all speaker locations. all this comes free. good luck

Many of the older GMs, the aftermarkets HU stick out like that... they didn't account for people wanting to change the HU (or they were trying to prevent it, who knows)there have been a few 09's with HU installs already, if you looked... which I'm guessing you didn't.. Metra rules the install world... 96% of install bays use metra..

It was a 99 Blazer I think, this was a while ago that he did it.Thanks for the heads up on the free goodies from Crutchfield. I was going to order one of the shallow mount Fosgate P3's from them anyway because they seem to be the only place I can find one by itself without the box and everything.
