Have you ever been pulled over because of HID lights?

I've never been pulled over for them and I've ran them for 3 yrs now mostly in a grand prix with the stock housing. Just don't get carried away with the color though and you should be fine. AFA factory HID, when you've got the money and legal verbaige to back you up, it seems like legality is nothing. I do think though that the one that they put in factory units are actually produced with strict compliance as opposed to aftermarket ones.

factory hids are designed for that specific car and are made to focus light to the ground and not up into the air. when you put hids into a car headlight not designed for it then you'll have crazy glare blinding oncoming traffic. that's the main reason why they're illegal. like wolfman said, don't go crazy with the color and you should be fine. don't get those deep blue or purple hids and you won't attract that much attention lol

Come take a look at my car with the projectors installed. Once you see them you will say, (removed) i want those... to answer your question, nope, never.

i was checking out illinois laws and they are not illegal here. i'd say google your state's laws and see what they say. and here is part of the law. i'm just grabbing the whole paragraph pertaining to the topic. (b) All other motor vehicles shall exhibit at least 2 lighted head lamps, with at least one on each side of the front of the vehicle, which satisfy United States Department of Transportation requirements, showing white lights, including that emitted by high intensity discharge (HID) lamps, or lights of a yellow or amber tint, during the period from sunset to sunrise, at times when rain, snow, fog, or other atmospheric conditions require the use of windshield wipers, and at any other times when, due to insufficient light or unfavorable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 1000 feet. Parking lamps may be used in addition to but not in lieu of such head lamps. Every motor vehicle, trailer, or semi‑trailer shall also exhibit at least 2 lighted lamps, commonly known as tail lamps, which shall be mounted on the left rear and right rear of the vehicle so as to throw a red light visible for at least 500 feet in the reverse direction, except that a truck tractor or road tractor manufactured before January 1, 1968 and all motorcycles need be equipped with only one such tail lamp.

I'm surprised no one has flashed me yet and so far no cops (8K)

Man, sometimes people's projectors are so bright it hurts my eyes (especially when they go over a bump and it goes directly in my face). In that case I flash them them my nice high beams at the very last second when they can't respond.

lol -- i used to do the last minute flash suvs with projectors are worse on the hwy -- they line up perfectly with the rv mirror - i've noticed the mazda CX7 or CX9 are terrible for that

I prefer to get flashed with plenty of time to spare so I can enjoy the view... oh wait you guys are talking about getting flashed with the headlights . Now I'm with it lol

yes if you do NOT have projectors they will spread light all over and not aim well ie. blind people and have no cut off. That's ^ is if you have standard headlights and only install HID's. If you retrofit projectors then you get a nice cut off and the light is focused. This is what I am going to do for my SS. I cant stand not having HID's...

Does the Vibe produce bad glare with HID? You guys are freakin' me out now. I was going to buy a set of PnP HID's w/6000K bulbs soon...

from what I've read, no personal experience though, the Vibe's are much better than the majority of other cars AFA glare is concerning.

i do agree tho, sometimes cars with projectors do get annoying if the roads are uneven and hilly. with the sharp cutoff it'll look like it's flashing when it goes up and down. i have tsx projectors in my 09 GT and with the stiff suspension on this car the light bounces a lot and i do get nervous when driving behind cops. it looks like i'm flashing them lolhere's what i meanhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNfa35rH8sQand when driving in front of a honda s2000, wow now that's a light show lol
