Hi all-New to the forum, hello first off. I work at small repair shop in minnesota, wondering if I can get a hand.My boss buy's salvaged cars from the insurance auction and repairs them for resale. He's a big fan of vibes/matrix's. I've got one in particular that's giving me fits in the electrical dept. I've gotten most of the issues figured out except one. It's burning up light control modules. It's an '06 vibe, loaded up. On*, monsoon stereo, moon roof, leather, etc. Originally, any time the car was on the high beam indicator would illuminate dim, and when you hit the high beams it would come on like normal. It would never go off though. Then, the smoke came. We found the burned LCM and replaced it, and the new (used) one did the same thing. Now, the odd thing: Even after BOTH LCM's burned, all the lights still work fine, including the high beam indicator. Headlights, turns, fogs, tails, everything. Before the LCM burns, it doesn't work right. Does that make any sense to anyone? Should I just leave it burnt and say forget it?Sorry about the novel here guys, just wanted to give all the details. Thanks everyone!
What was the reason the car was salvaged?? Wreck? Water? Obviously if things are burning up, there is a much greater problem... Like a pinched wire (short) I wouldn't allow it to move, without finding the issue.. you know as well as anyone, i'm sure, burning stuff can cause burning cars.. lol.. I can't say 100%, if you look in the maintenance section, I plopped a link (needs to be stickied) to the 03' service manual, i'm sure the systems haven't changed THAT much over the years, in this situation... Welcome to GV BTW..
