engine cover troubles

How does the black engine cover come off on the 1zz? I tried to take it off the other day.and i got the screws on the front but the things on the far side of the top wouldn't give. How do you unlatch those?thanks

Just pull it off since the plastic pins are gonna break anyway. You can replace them for under a dollar.

Actually, what I did is tried to get my fingers under there, one on each side of the pins, and lift straight up. Make sure the engine isn't hot though. If it is, they will have expanded, and the chances of removing them without breaking them is much less likely. However, if it's cool, pull straight up, and they should come up without breaking. However, if you do break them, here are the part numbers to reorder:Toyota: 90467-06190 ($1.60 PER CLIP)GM: 94859510 (Approx $0.85 PER CLIP)I bought a half dozen at one time, just cause I knew I might have to take it off and put it on several times.
