I was given a Small Fry; the others in the brood were probably already eaten. I was told it was a "moon fish", and given some tropical flake, which I was told to crush so that it could eat. It's TINY, so I put it in a betta tank that I had and it's not digging the crushed flakes. I tried to do a search online for "moon fish", but only found a reference to a large food fish that looks nothing like it. This is an orange fish with big white eyes. Sorry for poor pics, hard to take something that small. Any ideas? Thanks
try the little granules instead of the flakes. For my smaller fish, I'll grind them up between my fingers as I sprinkle it into the tank so that they have an easier time eating it. The flakes float, and some fish don't like going up to the surface to eat. The granules will sink slowly, he may be more into that. You may want to consider getting something other than a betta tank, something with filtration. Check your local classifieds, its usually not hard to find a full 10 gallon (or even bigger) setup for super cheap. He'll be a happier fish

Thanks! I'll look for that tomorrow. I have a bigger bowl and a small undergravel filter but was afraid it would get sucked up through it. It is active and going up to the surface, just not eating. I'll try the bowl tomorrow. I just have this small fry, not ready to upgrade to big tank yet. I'll wait 'til it's bigger so could survive having tankmates.
More fish are better then 1 and are easier to take care of. Feeding 1 fish is hard as (especiallly when new) they don't know how you feed them. And it's very easy to overfeed.
