New Vibe owner unhappy.

Just bought a 2009 2.8 Vibe and was dissappointed with the dealer response to a minor problem, and the service managers answer to a simple question. The minor problem was the XM radio. I could not get it to upload from the XM people nor the XM website. I did every thing by the book; i.e. turn to channel 1, be under open sky, keep the radio on and wait for 20-30 minutes. Nothing, and I did it at least six times. I went to the web site and got it refreshed twice, as the upload signal only lasts for three hours. So I took it back to the dealer. The service manager said that he couldn't do anything about it until next week, because he has to update his computer. He told me that XM locks the radios after three months on the lot, and in order to upload a signal, the radio has to be unlocked, and he couldn't unlock the radio until after his computer was updated. Phooey. Baloney. I had also asked him if I would need a any special wiring for an after market hitch receiver, as a local hitch installer had told me that I needed a special electronic module to hook up lights. The dealer told me that he never heard of such a thing, and that GM recommended that there be no towing. But the salesman and internet research said that the vibe had a towing capacity of 1500 pounds. Can anyone out there help me with either of these propblems?

Im not sure about the lock out on the HU. I JUST bout a new 2009 cobalt SS and my xm worked right off the bat but we had to setup onstar which the salesman did and he may of setup the XM too. I think the dealer may need to config xm on the car... did you try calling XM? do you have a different dealer around you? The trailer hitch is a lie. The vibe will tow and MANY members have towed small to insanely large objects with theirs! The hitch probably does need a wiring harness, but no biggie. Go forth with the hitch.welcome by the way! well and are unhappy with the vibe or the dealer, they are two different things

You're in FL. I'm sure there are other dealers you can take your car to, not just the one where you bought your car. the warranty is from the manufacturer, not the dealer.

He/she should have made sure the radios are working while on their lot and before the car drove off the lot. Go to a different dealer.

The radio was locked on my wife's G5 when we bought it. A call to XM solved the problem. You don't need the dealer to unlock it. Call 1-800-967-2346.

You will need a special wire harness to configure the turn signals for the trailer. This is necessary on all cars that have separate turn signals from brake lights.

Welcome! I would go to another dealer and or call XM itself. Do not let these two add ons take away from the car itself. I can see the trailer moduile I can see with cars these days having LED lamps and electronic flashers, unlike cars years ago. Also, I would read your owners manual on the towing rate, that will be the correct answer.

yea your dealer must have sold you another car, the vibe comes in a 1.8 and a 2.4 LOLis the 2.8 the v6 version?
