Yesterday I was maneuvering to exit the highway and hit a chunk of concrete that was in the roadway. It blew out both tires on the driver's side of the car. Onstar sent someone to pick up the car and take it to a dealer. The wheels are all gouged up, I'm not sure if there's any way to polish them out.
Bummer for sure. I am curious - where did that happen?

You will need new wheels, there is likely more damage than you know... Aluminum tends to crack as it bends.. If you lost a chunk, I don't know if I would reuse them.. But they can tell you if they are safe... if it's an insurance claim, they will likely replace them to be safe.. Sorry to hear about it.. I've had it happen to me... Make sure you get an alignment and you may have bent/broken suspension components.. Sounds like a hard hit..
Oh no!!! I'm sorry to hear that. but main thing you are OK. Stinkin' chunks of concrete! I agree with Sublimewind...replace the wheels and an alignment and front end inspection needs to be done...you don't want to mess with a safety issue. I had a spinning chunk of airborne concrete hit my bullseye-painted windshield. Curse those cement mixer trucks!

I was trying to exit and looking over my shoulder, I got off the ramp about 10 ft. to late and the chunk was sitting in that little triangle of pavement between the exit lane and the right lane. I didn't see it because I was watching my blind spot area. Two new tires and an alignment: $395.
