I bought a 2005 vibe with expired state inspection. When the dealer took it to get it inspected it came back as failed because the status of the o2 sensor the catyl and the evap were "not ready".He told me to drive the car for a while and bring it back so that the ecu would reset. I did as he told me and when I drove back on to his lot we checked the obdii and all the monitors were ready and no codes. As soon as I took it to get inspected a few minutes later the monitors were back to not ready. The only thing that the man did was restart the car and it would not pass again. Dose anyone know why it is not holding it's memory. The system resets everytime I turn the car off and I have to drive it again to set the monitors to ready. The car is in the shop now but I am hoping to get some info before i go back to talk to the mechanic so that I am armed with knowledg. Thanks in advance
When you disconnect the power supply, such as putting in a new battery or doing a repair that requires the battery be disconnected there is a time frame where the OBDII info is wiped out and needs to be reconstructed via driving. You've got a power supply issue to your computer that needs to be found.Obviously, go for a ride until the OBDII knows what is going on, go get the car inspected without shutting it off. Now you won't get a ticket for expired inspection and have time to find the real problem. I'm guess ignition switch electrical went bad but that is only via keyboard and there is so much more to look at.Good Luck,Dave
A friend of mine had that same issue with a Chrysler product. The mechanic told him to drive it for a while and get it re-inspected. It took almost a week, but it eventually passed. Good luck.
