Launch Control

Post by ChuckstrPT »

Any tips on launching an '05 GT smoothly?? Seems to have a tricky clutch and/or not much low end torque. I've pretty much got a handle on the heel and toe down shifting for "on the go grabbing gears," but I've not been able to figure out the launch. When it's wet, I get some pretty violent wheel hop...doesn't sound good. Every once in a while I'll come across the sweet spot, but it's not very reproducible. Any advice from the Vibe Goo Roo's?

Wouldn't Energy Suspension Motor Mounts help the wheel hop issue?

yes they would help stiffen the engine mounts and help wheel hop, so would better tires.

Dunlop Signature something or other...looks like a good wet treat pattern. Thanks for the info. I was unaware of the engine mount issue...I'm thinking poly mounts probably also transmit more NVH, huh?

If you are launching on a track the thing that gives me the lowest 60ft is to rev it up to around 6k (or the first limiter) and slip it until the rpms climb fast without wheel spin.My clutch is pretty bad so once the car starts moving i can pretty much just release it and the rpms will catch up.Doing this I've run a 10 flat in the 1/8th mile If it's wet it's pretty much a worthless cause, no lsd and lots of wheel hop make it next to useless.
