Dealer Oil Chnage Offer

Post by jake75 »

The Pontiac dealer where I bought my '09 in January just became a Chevy dealer and his Pontiac-GMC franchise went to the Buick dealer. This Buick dealer is not known for deals of any kind. They sent me a coupon for a LOF @$15.95, and an offer to buy 6 LOF's for $99.00 to get my service business. They should have given me a FREE LOF. . However, seems to be a good deal. At two LOF's a year that will last me through the warranty period. I need to make sure there is no time limit.

Well, cheap is better than full price! I prefer to do it myself, besides the fact that it's really easy, I know what's getting put in! Although even if you upgraded to full synthetic, the deal you got from your dealer would still be (probably) cheaper.

I sure hope that if you decide to buy the "6 for" deal, that they will still honor it after the transition. Years ago there was a Chevy dealer right behind where I used to work. It was SOooooooooo convenient to take it there for service. Well one time I had to get towed, and the tow truck driver took the car down there, then called to let me know that the service advisor said that they "no longer service Pontiac", so where do I tow the car to?" Well, they lost good customers (TWO cars, OFF warranty!) that Chevy dealer disappeared some time later. (karma!!)

The transition has already happened - it is the new Pontiac dealer that has the offer. Of course when Pontiac is gone they will no longer be a Pontiac dealer but I am sure they will continue to service Pontiacs, including providing warranty service.I have two oil change coupons left on my "oil change card" from the old dealer. They do not seem to care what brand of car you use those for so long as they have the part. When they were Pontiac-GMC my son had his Chevy and Chrysler serviced there.

I have seen people spend a bunch up front for x amount of oil changes only to have the dealer go belly up. If things were a bit more stable, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea, could save you some money. But now, you really don't know what is going to happen and the uncertainty is even worse with GM.
