Ok almost done IT Wont start though.... any pontiac techs?

Post by FCser »

My vibe is pretty much done we have it all painted up etc etc but i went to try to start it and checked the oil and it was overfull so i changed the oil and then tried starting it...nothing....everything inside works security light flashes... theft deturrent system works...what could becausing this? an electrical problem...? i do have the airbag fuse out, would that cause it to not start?dash lights up, there is one small click on around behind the glove box, but no other clicks or anythin...any ideas any pontiac techs on this board?

Is it a manual or auto transmission? If manual, then the clutch has to be fully depressed triggering a relay that lets the starter turn. If it's an auto, the brake has to be depressed and the shift has to be in park (or possibly also nuetral). The click sounds like it's the relay (normal) so you might check the wiring from the relay to the starter. Test the starter too.No, I'm no auto tech. The above is just my common sense kicking in since my old pickup sometimes exhibits the same symptoms as you listed above.Good luck.KSNeptune

Try putting the airbag fuse back in and see if it will go.

Take a look at the fuse. I had this trouble with mine. The AM2 fuse burned due to a short. Everyting was working except the engine didn`t want to start.

For sure your car won't start without the AM2 fuse out. This fuse is used for the charging system, air bag system, starter control and engine control.

By my calculation, this is costing $5,000 + $5,700 + $1,000 = $11,700. With rebate and discount a brand new one is $16,000 without any special deals. Probably couild have gotten a used never wrecked Vibe for perhaps $13,000. Does that dog hunt? As my wife has occasionally said to me, "Sometimes you can be too cheap!"

Re: Ok almost done IT Wont start though.... any pontiac techs? (FCser) - washer hoses

Post by joatmon »

quote:i have to go look at a new one and see how the hoses are wired up under the hood I looked at mine but there's not much to see. Looks like the washer hose runs between the wall of the engine compartment and the fender, comes out for about 5 inches and disappears under the hood insulation. Hope I never have to replace the washer tank/pump. Thanks for the pics of your car in work. They show a lot of how it's put together. I saved off a couple of them in case I ever have to take the front end apart. Is it to the point where you can get it legal on the road yet? I bet your anxious to drive it, after the work you've put in to it.
