eh not sure. I mean the air bags didnt go off, the engine wasnt hit or so it looks. But the frame is bent. I am going to ask my insurance about it. I want to know why my airbags didnt go off, not liking the frame bent, resale is crap now, its never going to drive the same again now.... even my dad agrees though, if its fixed, sell it and get a new car. So the drama continues until next week I guess...should be interesting to deal with this while in LA

well the ms3 had 10k worth of damage, so its not totaled. pretty sure snce I dont trust the frame or no air bags going off I'll be selling this and getting the turbo SS cobalt. The stage 2 kit for it from GMPP was announced to be out in 3 months (stage 1 end of june), and that puts it at 290hp. Heres the info:The “Stage 1” kit will come complete with a reflash (that must be dealer installed) and a few MAP sensors that will let your PCM more accurately read the higher boost pressures present in the upgrade. These goodies will net you 275hp and the new reflash will also remove the “learn-down” of the factory PCM so that all of your aftermarket modifications will be allowed to make the power you expect them to make. We are very excited how this kit is playing out and think that once you wrap your head around how much this is going to open up the possibilities of performance for the LNF, you will be as well. Efforts are being pushed hard to have this kit available to all of you by the end of June. The “Stage 2” kit will consist of everything in the Stage 1 kit, plus a new inlet duct and air cleaner. This will let your Cobalt breath a little easier and because of this, the kit will put down 290hp. Since the new hardware must be tested to the tried and true tests of GMPP, the Stage 2 kit will take a little longer to reach your local GM parts counter, about 3 months, but when it does you can rest assured you’ll be rolling with the best parts around.

It will be tough selling the MS3. GL with it. I am impressed with what the Cobalt SS can do, I'm not a fan of the look of the car.

yeah Im not a huge fan of the front headlights, they are way to big and round. Its like the 05 malibut ltz, ugly *** front end but everything else was good. But the engine in the SS is extremely reliable and with gm releasing its stage kit just proves they know it can handle power. Also its a track proven car. But I lose HID's, led tail lights, nice leather and a nicer dash :/ o well I wanted a track car

you lose cargo space, utility and you add a lot more torque steer. I like the MS3, very well rounded car.the Cobalt SS turbo to me is like the SRT4 is to neon, it's still a neon. Good luck in your sale. Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with the MS3, even after a repair. The project car we're picking up from my friend next April has been in 5 accidents it's life, one that almost totaled it a few years ago. We don't care because it'll be converted into a power house track car. Frame's still good and so is the sheet metal. That's about all that'll most likely remain once we're all done with it.and why wouldn't your air bags go off? plenty of people have been in accidents and their airbags will still deploy. I think you're just trying to use this as an excuse to get rid of the car and buy something different.

hahha duh its one of my excuses More torq steer? why is that? the SS (well the ones I'm looking at have LSD)Even my dad agreed it would be wise to dump it. I mean the resale on its totally screwed. I do worry about it throwing a rod and the issue with that and any warranty work is that I'm 2 hours away. So to get my sqeak fixed it was a 4-5 hour trip just to drop OFF the car. Then there was another 4-5 hour trip to pick it up and it wasnt fixed. I have become soo pissed off at the dealer, I wanted to get a different manf's car so I wouldnt have to deal with them. There are chevy dealers in duluth, another reason to get it.Everyone says oh its just a cavi or its a ugly cobalt. yes it is a cobalt, no its not a cavi, its a totally different platform. But this car is track proven and will waste almost anything, so everyones, "just a cobalt" excuse is imo stupid. that could be said of any car.

I can't blame you (excuses) I understand the frustration when it comes to the dealer not working with you. That my friend is a valid excuse. And one of the biggest reasons why my dad got rid of his Vibe to me, he was sick of dealing with the people at his dealership. He walked into the Toyota dealer and has been a happy camper since. I'm not saying one company's dealership is better than another, it's all about your local people if they are awesome or if they suck. My friend works at a Honda dealer in the cities and they are AWESOME (and not just because of my friend, We liked them before he even worked there) go to the Honda dealer in St. Cloud and it's like a bunch of monkeys ahhh. doing something to a football As for the comment about it just being a Cobalt.. you'll get that with anybody with any car.

Since this was not your fault you have a claim against the other driver for the diminished value of your car. State laws vary, but there are ways to get an estimate of this diminished value. You should press a claim for it whether you sell the car or not.

Theres no mazda dealer in Duluth or with in 100 miles. The dealer I go to is the closest Speed certified dealer. There are 2 more in the cities but they are another 30-50 min on top of the 2 hour drive down. I hear they are pretty good but it wasnt until the service advisor I liked left, did I have problems with them. The new guy was blowing me off, wouldnt call back, wouldnt tell me what they fixed. It pretty much comes down to, its to much work, time and money wasted having a car with no close place to get fixed and now that all the stupid things that were broke are now to be fixed, it will sell better now than later.Jim- The other company is paying for the repairs, and my rental car, but you are saying there is a way for them to pay for the diminished value? I doubt its in MN..but I can ask my insurance company.

You can buy HID headlights and also LED taillamps for the Cobalt. Don't cry about those things cause we have nothing like that for the Vibe/Matrix. I wanted LED tails for my 02 civic forever, I sell it, they come out a month later. figures.Awesome!

I would but those inner red/white ones have that oblong clear section which I find ugly. I will either make them myself or leave them :/ ugh but yes they have 3-4 headlights and taillight options.

I think you are making the right move... I hate to say.. The MS3 is a nice car, but once you stuff one, much like anything else, it'll never seem right again.. (10k in damage, come on... wow)The CBSS is a very capable car... While I agree with ALKGT, I DO need to point out that Dodge did make race ONLY Neons back in the 90's, they've done a LOT of racing since their inception... It's a long running platform now.. a race winning platform.. in the right hands.. The CBSS has been doing extremely well in it's class of road racing (till it get's wet) So, it's proving out the platform now.. They do great though.. Now, with the way things are going, it might not be the best idea to invest in a GM, but, that's just me.. Why don't you just break down and get that STi you've been eying.. lol..

and remember, GM's going bankrupt.... and well, almost every single domestic vehicle's resale value is crap. You're trading one poor resale (due to accident) for another. There are so many more options imo. Hell, go buy a Solstice GXP turbo! We could easily sell Mav's 07 (2 yrs ownership) for $3K more than we owe and I could sell my 08 (after only 1 yr) for a little more than what we owe. Not 50% depreciation like my Vibe GT or Mav's 04 Vibe.oh and don't buy an 08 STI as the motors are blowing up like crazy! You can find some decent used STI's for $24K and under for 06 with low miles. You want a proven track car? there you go! Or EVO for that matter. I'd say there's an 04 STI with 45K miles on it for $18,500 here, but it's been ridden hard and put away wet. Wouldn't wish it on anyone I liked (if you know what I mean). Then you got your AWD for the winter and the power for an awesome track car.

Ok guys heres the thing, I can get a new SS for under 18k with full warranty. Im not going to get a used FI car that was beat on and I dont know the history for 18-25k. I need a car with a warranty and very reliable. By going to a sti or evo I'd be adding 10-15k onto my loan which I think would be financially unsound. AWD is great and all but not needed, the SS is proven to be a force on the road course and get good mileage. I had snow tires on the ms3 and did fine in snow storms.Just like buying a vibe, its a buyers market for it. The only evo I'd want is a MR and it would have to be a sti but both are asking crazy amounts of money even now. I saw a used 2005 evo with almost 30k miles for 20k, screw that, no one will pay that.

an 05 Evo with 20K miles for $20K? that's cheap! it's called RESALE VALUE! SUPPLY AND DEMAND! There is a demand for them, therefore the value is worth more. and exactly my point, if you get this car you've been sooo dying to get (kinda like your MS3), you better hold onto it til it's paid off. been there, done that, always said I was gonna keep the car and ended up swapping them out every year or two. That got me in a lot of financial trouble, especially when you start throwing in mod money and mods. Keep in mind, once you mod that car, it's worth LESS! You take it out of the vast majority of used car buyers market. As you already mentioned, you don't want to buy a used turbo car for that very same reason! The resale on the Cobalt is literally going to be 50% as soon as you drive it off the lot, so you better plan to keep it and be happy with it for some time. Ultimately, it's your car and your decision, but listen to some of us who are a little older (and maybe even a little wiser) than you who've been down this path before. Remember, cars are NOT assets! I can kick myself in the *** now when I look back at the stupid buying and trading out vehicles that I did when I was younger. That really messed me up financially in the long run. Yes, I still mod my car, but I'm working on getting us completely debt free in the next 2-3 years. I don't want another car payment and I'm sick of owing people money! Good luck my friend! I just hope you're making a wise decision in the end.

MSRP on the cobalt is 25, so getting it for 18, and driving off the lot it will not decrease by that much at all. Used ones still go for 13-15 from 2007.I would never spend 20k on a used evo from 05. its old, beat on, no warranty and all the rubber parts are starting to get old. It may be "cheap" a couple years ago, but mitsu is almost pulling out of the US so i wouldnt touch that car. Like I said the only evo id consider is a MR and I dont have 35-40k for one. The good news is this morning her insurance called and said they totaled my car. So now I have to get a new car. Im waiting to hear what they think its worth. So the best financial decision would be the SS as its closer to the price ill get from the ms3. thus making my loan the same or only slightly higher.

Im pretty sure we talked about that when you bought the car to begin with. YOu should be fine, they can sometimes take their time to pay up if there's a negative balance, but at least it'll be paid off in the end. So now you can have your cake and eat it too.

Oh I didnt realize what you meant by responsible until after I posted before. Of course I thought...crap maybe I should keep it if its fixed. I loved the ms3. I bet I almost would of...unless I was offered a fantastic deal where I didnt lose any or much money. I'm not stupid...I just like to think out loud then ponder it..then do the wise choice. I do not have GAP insurance. I didnt want it because I payed more on my car than what the payment was. I owe less than what it should be worth. I also made sure of that last month, by making a very large payment. I have roommates and live semi frugal so I can pay my car off, no joke thats why haha.So now I just need to wait and see what they offer me. I had BRAND NEW tires on it, Cobb RSB and a ground wire kit I'll tell them so hopefully they hike up the price some as those tires were expensive. Then I need to go car shopping and see if they will let go a SS for around 18k because you know they dont want to lose that much but they arent selling to fast

well, find out what they owe you. Remember, insurance co's dont pay the book value but the market/street value. that can work out to either advantage or disadvantage. If the book says it's only worth $18K but they're selling for $22K, they're gonna pay you about $21K. However, if the book says it's worth $18K and they're selling for $16K, they're only gonna give you $16K or less.My buddy found this out when his jeep was totaled back in 98. booked out about 23K but the market value here was a good $26K. He got a lot more money back and that's when he bought his 98 RS (which is what we're planning to buy from him next year as our project car).

I almost bought a Mazda 3 hatch GT in dark grey with 5spd., HIDs, rear decklid spoiler, 17's, etc. etc. But I had two big issues:1) I was on the dealer lot for 40 minutes and nobody talked to me, I even stood in front of a gentleman at his desk, he looked up at me, then walked away, never asked if I was being helped. I wrote an email to the dealer manager explaining the poor feeling he said come back we will take care of you, blah blah. I called him and thanked him for the apology but told him I went and bought the Matrix instead because I was treated 1000x better.2) The Mazda did not have AWD. Why is beyond me since they did it for the 6, could have squeezed it in there.Ended up with my Matrix, it's slower, has no manual tranny, but it gets me through the weather much better than the Mazda ever could. I still see them stuck on roads here and there.

yeah and its not the mazda, its the dealer. I mean dealers are all different. The new service advisor at the mazda dealer i go to treats me like a 16 yr old thats never owned a car before. Drives me up the wall. The mazda 6 never had awd unless you got the mazdaspeed 6, BUT they had awd models in Japan and Australia..makes no sense. Well I got snow tires for a reason those stock mazda tires are summer only, they may say all season but they are more for zoom zoom and not cold. Anyway you got a good car you like so who cares right? as long as you are happy with the car.I think this weekend im heading to the cities to go look at the SS's and test drive them. I think I've narrowed it to white or red.

Oh I like my car now, and I know it was the dealer, but around here Mazda dealers are not too close together so it was kinda my only choice. The AWD was the biggest turn off of all since I drive almost 30 miles one way to work each day.I was referring to the MS6 with the AWD and turbo, lovely sedan for the buck.

Jeff wants to put some black Ultraleggeras from our friends red SS on mine and snap some pics. I love those rims, 18lbs This drive train is absolutely stunning. The shifting is sooo smooth and tight. Gates are close for quick shifting. The engine and exhaust stock at 200 miles sounds FREAKING AMAZING. Its not even broken in and I am loving this car. I'll post more of a comparison once its broken in.
