I finally got one!

Post by DarkCancerian »

I've been eyeing the Vibe since 2004 (when this account was created). It's practically my dream car. Stylish, reliable, modern, efficient with comfortable seating and a high view. Before, I could never manage to afford a new car, and my insurance company originally classified it as a sports vehicle, so it had high insurance rates. It's since been classified as a wagon, so the rates are great.I even remember the grille changing, being disliked, and subsequently growing on many people (me included). Anyway, I found a used 2008 (I prefer the 2008 over the 2009 anyway) for $14k. It only had 30k miles, and the previous owner was a dealership that used it as a courtesy shuttle. I would like to think I got an okay deal.I love this car! It's all I expected it to be and more.

Congrats. I also just got an 08 that used to be a rental fleet vehicle with low mileage like yours. I really like the 08 style more than the 09 too.I love the lift hatch glass and that duotone rubber/plastic skirt thing we've got going on. Looks rugged and buff.

i'll add this: you have about 6k left on your bumper to bumper warranty. drive the car thoroughly to find anything and everything that might be wrong that is covered in the b2b. once you hit 36k, all you have left if the powertrain warranty.

Thanks! I'm loving it so far, though a few things have cropped up.The left side of the back light on the radio went out (or I just noticed it was out) and the dealership ordered a new one under warranty. No clue if that's common.. maybe I should look into an after market radio... The cladding on the passender side jumped two "clips" and they're going to fix that under warranty too.It was rainy yesterday and the brakes made a barely audible 'whistle' in between being pressed and completely stopped. It disappeared after a few stops -- perhaps just an effect of being cold and wet?The dealership is offering me a warranty/service plan from CNA National. 5 years or 100k miles, $100 deductible, supposedly covers "everything" except maintenance (I find this hard to believe). Think I should take them up on it?

Warranties are a gamble. If you need it, it would be worth it. If you don't need it, it would have been a waste of money.
