Im not using the pioneer premiers anymore, im using i slightly nicer and more bassier Rockford Fosgate mids in my doors, my tweets will be installed in the cover for the mirror wires, (has anyone done this before), i then will most likely temporarily use the deck to power those and then later get an orion/cobalt competition 4 channel amp fo them.
Which Pio's where you using? I personally like mounting the tweeters lower in the car... Like the kick panel area... I'm trying to remember what the kick panel looks like... There are 2 benifits to mounting them lower.. 1. The speakers are closer to being EQUAL distance from for ears, when they are farther away from you... (um, yeah, re-read, yeah that's right...lol) Think about the drivers position, and placing the tweeters on the sail panel (what you are referring to BTW) well, one will be 2' from your head, and the other will be 4.5' from your head... If you were to place the tweeters in the kick panels for instance, on would be 3.5' from you and the other would be 4.5' from you.. so you see you just equalized the "path length" by 1.5' by simply mounting them in a different location...What does the mean to you... more cohesive sound... you can't tell consciously but your mind can.. It's called "image and stage" or how well your mind preceves sounds on a imaginary "sound stage" This is easier to accomplish by simply doing this, it's free digital time alignment... lol.. 2.The farther speakers are from one another the more phase shift the encounter... This can mess with all sorts of things from the crossover point of the crossovers to cancellation of various frequencies throughout the range.. In laymens terms, I like the way the kicks sound better, it helps make tweeters less harsh.. I like a mellow tweet that can cut through the junk when it needs to... Yes, I do this a LOT...
these stupid things, trust me i made a MAJOR upgrade, and yeah i know these are pretty much the worst pioneer has to offer but still...http://www.pioneerelectronics....1642R

I sure wish you would have run your idea past here before you bought though... What did you pay for the RF's and which RF's did you get..??
If I had known, I would have pointed you to the Phenix Gold RSD 6.5 which would have both sounded better and prolly come in cheaper than the coaxial you got, homie.. http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/rsd65cs.aspx (I don't know if I would trust the 3yr warrante thing..lol)they get RAVE reviews for the money they command... some have used the tweeters in systems worth FAR more than the avarage joe would have... yeah, that good, I guess... Oh well, i'm sure you'll be happy... I don't wanna sound full of myself, but I spend a LOT of time on the forums and such, I can find the deals... I would be happy to help on any other purchases you might be considering.. if even just for a different perspective.. People can make their own decisions, I just try and provide different options.. possibly better, possibly not.. you know..
yeah, thanx a lot i will polly go through you or something from now on, im trying to turn it into a competition bass car so im going all power and bass, so im thinking abotu getting two 15 inch alpune type rs in a portd box with 2 hifonics or soundstream amps, all wired with RF wiring. You really should hear the Rf 6.5s though they are amazing, the power on those and then the highs are sweet, i listened to a track of drumline on there and you could hear everything.

So you want a beat box.. we can do that... your gonna need a few things like a new alt, a fresh battery or two, but yeah, it could SLAM.. Keeping it is the other problem though, you bought a hatch, you can't lock everything in the trunk.. soooo It'll still slam though.. What do you know about the SPL companies? There are a LOT of them these days.. You could do more with something other than alpine... Ever herd of Steve Meade and Fi Audio... youtube some lol...
yes i have heard of him, Fi is amazing, my second most favorite beatin' brand my first being JL Audios 13w7s. I am loooking at a yellow top optima for the main battery and possibly putting the old one in the back and wiring them up, a new alternator might cause me a problem with funding it. But if you have any other hitns or anything you can tell me everyting you know, i am hungry for info.

But if you have any other hitns or anything you can tell me everyting you know, i am hungry for info.Start at Maniac Electric Motors... IIRC you could get an alt for ~200$... I got my 140A for that much.. Ditch the yellow top idea and go with a Sears Diehard Platinum.... same money, better battery.. You know you don't need 20kw to make a LOT of bass, right? Just good efficient driversYou have much to learn, young Skywalker....lol.... Start here http://www.bcae1.com/ topics on the right..
hey thanx for that, i will look at the link as best i can. but i will not guarantee anything will happen with the alternator seeing as i am only 16 and do not know much on how to put a new one on or anything of the such

I guess after seeing THOUSANDS of similar posts over the years, you get a "feel" for it... lol... No, but it's all good.. There are ways around it, but if you REALLY want to slam, you'll want/need a new alt.. AFA installing it, simple, I mean really.. lol.. AND if you ever REALLY needed a hand, you could drive up this way and I could help.. (i'm like 2hrs north of you though)AFA bcae1, work at your own pace... it's a GREAT site and designed for YOU, so you can learn quickly and easily... You've really got it good man, sooooooooooo much info is available to you... I grew up in the the Internets infancy.. so it was real work.. now a day, if you have a thought, you can Google it.. lol.. Do yourself the favor and start learning now... i'm 35, i've been in car audio since I was 18'ish and i'm STILL learning something new every day..If I can't instill anything else upon you, please, never stop learning.. lol..
Quote, originally posted by cp_stunna_2011 »yup so, what door speakers do you have? Currently, Pioneer TS-C720PRS components (though i'm just using the midbass) I will mate them to a Polk MOMO tweeter for now.. Over the winter i'm putting 8's in the doors with a pair of Image Dynamics IDQ8
ur lucky that midbass' will easily fit in your doors. or at least it looks that way. and those are my pretty much favorite smaller spearker that pioneer has to offer YOU obviously didnt get those at best buy like ME. i dotn tottaly hate pioneer like it may seem i did.
in addition to my RF door speakers I now have the highest quality amp and signal wire RF has to offer. And yes i am bragging its not everyday that someone gets that kind of stuff. I also have two kicker solobaric L5s beating out the trunk, LOUD, they are powered by a sony amp for now, i do hate sony car audio, but for some odd reason this amp is killer. i got a brand new capacitor 5000k scoshe (SP) from my friend, which is temporary untill i can find the right alternator. or a ginormous RF Capacitor. the solobarics are temporary untill i get my Alpine Type R 15s

Not trying to be a jerk, friend, but you know jack.. lol.. That's fine though, no worries, you are already learning a LOT and seems like you care to learn more... Very good, young Skywalker.. As you see, I don't judge your choices in gear, I only offer kind suggestion, what you do with it is totally up to you.. You will learn though... it's a fun journey, I know it well.. I know the place you are at in your thinking and choices being made (not 100%, but I have a good idea) AFA the Pioneers, well, they are one of the top midbass's going currently, that are a car audio driver, there are plenty of home audio midbass's being used in car audio these days to, some really serious ones.. lol.. I am VERY space limited, i've got 2" of mounting depth, AFTER I spaced my window tracks back away from the mount 1/8" With the spacers I showed above, I've got 1/4" of space between the speaker and the glass... 1/4" is a bit much, but ,it's better than too little... after all of that, I have to space my door panel out slightly from the door to ensure I don't hit it with the cone, on those especially fun midbass songs.. I even "relieved" one of the door panels with a heat gun, trying to get a little more room.. lol.. So you got some L5's, nice.. 10's, 12's, 15's..?? Why bother moving to the Alpines, since you have the L5's? They are a great speaker.. get a matching kicker amp, to beat the crap out of them and have fun.. What sort of enclosure are you/have you put them in? What Sony amp..?? What RF wire did you go with? What size? 4awg? 1/0awg? We gotta get you a better battery too..!! soon enough.. no rush.. Have you done the "Big 3" to the car yet? Lol... I could go on and on man.. for DAYS... lol.. I do hope I don't come off "(removed)'ish" I truly am not trying too, I just do this a LOT, here and on other forums.. It's my main "vice" i'm TOTALLY, 100% addicted to audio and audio forums... I don't sugar-coat things either... My opinion is just that, an opinion and I wouldn't ever want you to think that my opinion is anything other than that... you can take it or leave it.. period.. Cool.. cool... (I hope) Cheers man, soon hopefully, I'll be able to demo my car for you.. I'm starting work on it again after hurting my back and being off it for almost 2 weeks.. A
so in 16 year old terms u put a spacer in, moved the window over a bit and messed around with the door panel spacing to fit the bigger drivers, now that is cool. The problem with the L5s is they are the older ones ( black with red and silver in the middle) and the one was re coned or something and doesnt hit right, it s not audibly noticeable, just visually, the good one moves quicker back and forth and has a lot of movement. idk it works all right.

Yeah, I messed around with ALL of the speaker spacing to get them to fit...lol... AFA being able to see one sub doing something the other sub isn't... unless something is connected wrong, or something is dreadfully wrong with the speaker itself... NOT possible... That speaker cone is moving faster than you can tell... I guess if you got some test tones and played a 10hz tone, you could possibly see whats going on... But at 60hz, that cone is moving 60 times per SECOND... you aren't seeing what you think you are seeing.. (unless something IS wrong..) Could you have one sub wired differently? like in series, rather than parallel? That might cause a problem?
its a 2 channel amp, one hooked to each channel, and both subs are dual voice coil if that means anything to you. I dotn think anything is messed up wrong maybe it is just me.

I dotn think anything is messed up wrong maybe it is just me.That means a lot if one sub happened to get wired parallel and one series.. Parallel will half the load to the amp and series will double it.. So, if it's dual 4ohm coils, in parallel it would present the amp a nominal 2ohm load, in series it would present a nominal 8ohm load... This would make a HUGE difference in output..
