The "mylife" scam - beware

Post by jake75 »

If you get an e-mail from a networking site going by the name of "mylife" send it to the spam file - it is another scam that harvests your email list. In fact, if you get any such email - google it first to verify. Even if you recognized the named person who is asking you to be linked to them it is probably just because that friend's email list has been hijacked because he/she took the bait. Don't even click the "I don't know that person".

Same thing with emails from someone you know telling you they sent you pictures via a site called Tagged. Several people I know have been bit by this.

I think it originated when I had the myspace, which got phished, and the only thing I can think is it was one of the stupid dating ads on myspace that did it, because I get subject lines like "reply to your ad" and "we should meet" (I have *NO* ad) I mark them all as "phishing scam", but I still will occasionally get one.

How timely! I signed up for "tagged.com" because I wanted to play a game called Mafia Wars. The site seems legit for the most part, but they phished my email account and sent out emails to everyone on the list saying I wanted them to be my "friend". It even sent emails saying I was sending them a photo - when I never even uploaded a photo to the site.Jerks.
