Ac Clutch is dead.

Post by josholiver1 »

For about a few months now when ever i would start the my car up in the morning it would make this "gurgling" sound that seemed as if one of the plastic panels on the under body was loose. Well, yesterday morning rolled around and i started the vibe as usual, but this time the sound was even worse, so with an oil change coming up soon i took it in yesterday and showed the guys my issue thinking it was a simple piece loose, well no, it was the AC clutch he said. He quoted me about 170 for the clutch and 400 total to get it fixed. Has anyone else had an issue with this and is that a reasonable price?

There have been some people report AC clutch failures, but I can't remember what it cost them to fix it. I don't know how hard it is to replace the part yourself, $400 is a non-trivial pile of coin.

Mine literally fell off a couple months ago and it's getting up to 105 here I really need to get it fixed You can find the clutch online for about 90 bucks so I would buy it then have a place install it since there is a good amount that goes into the installation.
