Vibe/Matrix offsets for the 03 thru 08s range from 39 to 45mm. The 16 inch steel and alloy wheels are 39mm and the 17 inch alloy has a 45mm offset. Don't know if they changed offsets for the 09 mondel year. A 55mm offset would put the outside edge of the wheel about 10mm farther inside the wheel well than the 45mm. I bought a 38mm offset 17 inch wheel to bring the tire and wheel out to the edge of the Vibe wheel well lip. Ended up almost flush... just a few mms from the edge.
