Headlight kill switch

Post by BadBrew »

Now that I have my HID projectors with angel eyes, I'm looking for a way to use parking lights, angel eyes and fogs without headlights just for showing off I can currently have the auto-headlights with DRL kill setup. When I switch to parking lights, headlights come on and fogs remain off.So I'm just looking for the 12v wire(s) going to the headlights that I could switch on/off manually.(Like my avatar pic basically, but I had my parking brake on on this)anyone?

DRL kill and automatic lights is easy. to have manual control over that you would just need to wire in a switch. i can draw up the diagram if this is the setup you are looking for.

I want to run the parking lights without having the headlights on... for some reason, the DRL kill I used http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=36183 put the headlights on when I switch the lever to parking lights.

if you read the whole thread you would see that myself and Calata discussed how this mod works. if the back lights are on the head lamps get turned on too. so if the tail lights are turned on because of the automatic switch, the head lamps turn on too. under normal unmodded lights when using parking lights the tail lights are turned on but the head lamps are turned off, but since you did this mod the headlamps get turned on too.

Thanks for clearing this part! I guess I was too exited to do this mod that I didn't read it through I didn't realise the green-black wire going to the tail lightThat mod was the reason I switched to HIDs actually So with all my electrical inexperience and reading back the electrical plan you provided, if I put a switch to the red-yellow wire, I should be able to do what I want right?

well, it looks like it depends on how you wired in the halos. if are they just connected directly to power you can put a switch between the join you made for the DRL mod and the HEAD relay. this will allow you to turn the switch on the steering column for the parking lights and then flip your installed switch so the head lamps are off, but every thing else is on. if you wired the halos to be controlled by the head lamp control you will need to isolate them from the head lamps.

Halos are completely independent from the headlights, in fact, I also installed a switch just aside the hatch release button. Thanks for the heads-up! I should read the wiring diagrams carefully next time
