We were looking last weekend, having just got our GM card points doubled. Saw 09 Vibes with a $1500 rebate plus $1000 loyalty rebate. So still $2,500 off. I agree, if the selling price is invoice, less the rebate, less another $2K in GM card, pretty good deal. At least if you plan to keep it forever. I think resale will be badly impacted by the demise of Pontiac.

I did not realize that the former rebates were that high - from what I was seeing advertised in Ohio it was $500 plus $1,000 loyalty, and then that changed to $1,500 for everyone - no separate loyalty rebate.Just curious - was that GM Card offer to "double" or was it a top off to $2,000, $3,000 etc. that in your situation amounted to double?

The notice calls it a top off. We have about $980 built up since Jan 08 when we bought the last Vibe, they've bumped it up to $2,000 thru June 30.

does anybody have a clear understanding as to whether the loyalty cssh can be used WITH the 0% on the 09? some sites suggest yes, and some no.here is a no:http://www.gm.com/owner/?brand...erAppand here is a yes:http://www.gmbuypower.com/curr...on=10if you go the pontic site, the note for loyalty cash that used to say "cannot be combined with special financing offers" is gone.so confusing.jeff
I got a 2-page letter from GM today, such the appreciated customer that I am. "At this, the most important moment in the history of our company, our dedication to high-quality, fuel-efficient and outstanding-value vehicles has never been greater". Fuel-efficient is their priority? Is that why they'll still make behemoths but we can't have Pontiacs after next year? All the money the "big 3" wasted in marketing, trying to out-testosterone each other, meanwhile Toyota and Honda developed and sold hybrid/electrics. Duh. Oh yeah, on the back was an "owner appreciation certificate" says:$2750 on 2009 G6, $2,500 on G8, $2000 on Vibe, G3, G5, (2009.5) G6, Solstice*, Torrent, * (Sky is only $1,000 though)The other day I got a notice saying it's my last chance to buy an extended warranty (!!) and if I do I get a $200 gift card. LOL

All the money the "big 3" wasted in marketing, trying to out-testosterone each other, meanwhile Toyota and Honda developed and sold hybrid/electrics. Duh. ... I may be confused. Honda and Toyota may have sold a few hybrids (I believe that Honda discontinued the Accord at one point), but both have increased engine size and decreased mpg in there current vehicles. GM had many cars that exceed 30 mpg on highway. Also, Toyota built a new plant to build over 250,000 full-size vehicles with a V8 engine. The brought bigger, less MPG Sequoia's to the market. So, based on these facts, you can bad mouth GM all you want. I have facts that challenge your statements. It was the government automotive task force that told GM that they had to drop additional brands. These Wall Street specialist know everything (marketing, manufacturing, political contributions, etc.). There are many people that slam GM cars, and have not driven a GM car in the last 5 years.
I think all auto companies market cars based on their best estimation of what consumers want to buy. The federal CAFE requirements probably caused them to make more small more fuel efficient cars than consumers really wanted and to sell those they had to accept a lower (or even negative) profit margin. As Pogo said, "we have met the enemy and they is us" (or something like that). It seems to me that the majority of the recalls/problems with automobiles are related to parts made by outside suppliers. So the key to quality may largely be picking the right suppliers.

I just bought a 2009 Vibe yesterday. They told me at the dealership it was $500 cash back plus the GM loyalty discount (which I don't get as a new GM buyer) OR the 0% financing.BTW, I got to use ALL my GM reward points from my Mastercard - $4212!w00t!

That was no doubt years in the making. In Jan I had a balance of about $1,850 but there was a GM offer that upped it to $3,000

I think GM is just trying to shake every possible customer out of the trees. They had a $1000 customer cash and then removed that June 4. My June 3 quote for the GT at $17,701 suddenly jumped a grand (plus an add'l $500 because I wanted the 0%). So, GM adds the loyalty cash to shake loose other reluctant buyers. They offer the credit card reward point upgrade to get some more. Maybe in a week or two they'll give incentives to NEW customers.Anyway, I'm glad they did what they did and I was able to get this one. Seems most forecasts are predicting a rise in both interest rates and gas prices - so I'm covered as best as can be in this 2009 Vibe.We keep our cars a long time so I'm not so worried about resale.

Is there anyone who actually believes that bankrupt GM will EVER pay you (or your dealer, for that matter) any 'rebate' or 'incentive'?They screwed pretty much every GM shareholder out of 100% of their investment with the government takeover.
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.

That part of GM and Chrysler is business as usual. The GM shareholders made what turned out to be a bad investment - there are no guarantees. The stock holders get what's left after the bond holders, etc. and as usual in a bankruptcy the stock is worthless.I have some stocks that are almost worthless - Ford, Citigroup etc. but you win some and you lose some. The banks were a key cause of the automakers problems and their execs ought to all be in jail.

A hands off approach towards our car companies would have meant their demise. Liquidation of assets and then silence. With Chrysler in Fiat's hands, we will still have American workers producing cars. With GM's 'Govmint' take over, factories stay open and American workers continue to produce cars. If they prosper, we can invest with them again. Hands off, and that opportunity would have gone away.
