CAI vs Regular performance intake

i have a question. what is the performance/sound difference between a CAI and a regular performance intake (i.e. k&n typhoon intake)? I have a vibe gt and was thinking about getting one. i have a grand am with a cold air intake and it was a pain in the a$$ to install because we had to cut into the fender well. we had to have a car shop install it. i think its a similar situation with the vibe. the regular intakes i assume are much easier. how difficult is it to install the cai and is the performance difference worth it?thanks

The sound should be much the same. The performance of a CAI will be better. It's really not that bad to put into a Vibe either. So far most everyone who has attempted it has been successful in a short amount of time. There's certainly no cutting involved.If you want more information, I really recommend using the search feature and searching for CAI.

No cutting or crazy things to do to install a CAI in the Vibe. The most troublesome thing you have to do is remove the battery and battery tray. That's it. It takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do by yourself. It was a piece of cake. Took almost exactly 1 1/2 hour with my friend helping. Well worth it.
