I read all these posts about all these problems, and you know what "knock on wood" i have not had a single tiny little problem. No bad smells, no dash noise, no nothing. i guess somethings just work out. Well, i guess i got my own share with my wife's Alero. not even 6000 miles and been to the dealership 4 times for stupid little problems.
Ha I have had my vibe in 2 times in first 6,000. #1 - Radio popped and wouldn't shut off even with the key out of the ignition. I had to pull a fuse to get it to shut off. It was hissing and no buttons would work. I took it in to dealership and the replaced. Strange lol.#2 - Was driving one day when I came upon a slow car lol. So I went from 5th to 4th to pass them. I took it up to only about 6500 rpms than my check engine light came on. I than took it to the dealership they hooked it up to computer and low and behold an oil solenoid sensor was malfunctioning and again they fixed that.So no car is problem free you bring the car to me I will make it work lol. My luck is pretty bad. Matter of fact I spent the whole night tonight getting my wifes hunk of Junk (Pontiac Grand Am) back to my house so I can replace a bad Alternator.

I agree with the rest of the posters here. For one, what you read here is from a very small cross section of Vibe owners, the enthusiasts. For one, we're going to be a bit more picky about the little problems with the car, even to the point of making some of them seem far worse than they actually are. I also agree that no brand or model is without it's problems children. Doens't mean they'll all be that way. I for one drove a Saturn before I bought my Vibe. The main reason I sold it: at 70,000 miles, the cooling system had suffered a catastrophic failure, the head gasket was going, and the tranny was on its way out as well. But, most people have never had any trouble with, and even really like their Saturns. Mine was just a trouble maker!

I had to drive my dad's 98 grand am the past few days while my vibe was being realigned. Thursday, I was pulling in my driveway, stopped, parked, got the mail, got back in, shifted into neutral (dunno why), flipped through the mail. All of a sudden, the tape player started to slow down as if a walkman's batteries were dying, then the airbag light came on, then the engine started dying, so i was like weird, ok, so i shifted it into drive. It seemed ok. Back into neutral. Airbag light, radio, engine went off again. Figure not good, better turn off the car. Did. Couldn't start it again. Just flat out DEAD.Turned out to just be the battery going at 78,000 miles...but we weren't sure if it was that, the alternator, or something else...Ok, so it wasn't funny per se...but rather coincidental.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Ahh... Going from an N-body to the Vibe was quite a change... SO FAR, it's had the sunroof, back glass, and A/C cable adjusted. Wow. Just hit 10,000 miles the other day.It is going in the shop next week, unfortunately. Mystery coolant leak - you can smell it when the engine is hot, but NO visible leaks anywhere. Lost ~1" of coolant out of the tank over the last three weeks.A problem? Yes, but I'm far from upset over it... Regardless, this car has served me better than anything I've had thus far...

I really haven't had any problems either. I don't believe luck has much to do with it. When people have a problem, they post to 1) ask if there are others with the same problem and 2) let others know what to watch out for. People without problems have no reason to complain. That's why this forum isn't filled with posts like "Hey, just drove my Vibe and nothing rattled!". The old saying in business is "A satisfied customer may not tell anyone, an unsatisfied customer will tell anyone who will listen."
