ya..i seperated the brackets and put them near the ends..cut off about 1mm off the ends to make it fit abit more..but the velco idea is great..how high is your board off the base of the chrome housing whelan?maybe i placed mine to low with the backing of the L brackets

Thank you.2 small L-brackets with double-stick tape, i wasn't impressed, it's not at all as well-built as the LED lamp assembly itself, I'm waiting for spring when I'll look at it and see if there's a better way.

The board itself is great quality, the mounting is so so, I am doing something a little more permanent, so much goin on lately I havent had time. So tonight I will be trimming it and putting it in place, I just hope I don't get to tired and lazy at the end of the day.
I've been totally slacking on mine too... I've been playing with some tacky stuff for posters.. it seems to work pretty good for placement (it doesn't hold permanently, it's just a test) I've got to find some good adhesive putty that will hold it permanently. I don't want to use a glue b/c if I ever had to remove the board I don't want to break anything.
hey guys, the led brake i have is similar to whelan's (his is cooler with 3 rows instead of 2) but i'm sure the installation is the same. mine also came with double stick tape and 1 L-bracket, and i've had no problems with it since april or may, or whenever i installed it.

I think our big problem is b/c of the 3 rows, we have less room to make sure all 3 rows are being seen through the window. That, and the bracket that you have might be nicer (idk if it is...) It's just that with the L brackets that it came with they can't really be aligned all that well to make sure all 3 rows are being seen, and that the rows don't move after bumps and over time that it doesn't sag down.

I've left mine off since day one, being that my Trix is black, it looks great. You dont notice any of the board markings unless you stare at it up close. Other than that you see clear bulbs and when it's lit, it's frigin bright

you should not have the tint where the light is, most installers cut 1/4 inch inside the lip of the 3rd brake light so you can not see in and the tint covers all light but so (smartly) others can see the 3rd brake light when lit...
Whelan you need to let folks here know of the horror you and others have had with this vendor...I had a recent mess....a member at Matrixowners.com a "badwrench" is selling some homemade LED 3rd brake lights...cool guy etc...his only have 2 rows but he plastic welded 2 tabe that fit over the mirrored base just like the way the red lens attaches and it seems rock solid but not 3 rows and 839 (just joking) LEDs in it...only $26 though...

I got it b/c I like all the rows of LED's instead of one bulb...

Personally the process went very smooth for me. I originally contacted the person in regards to whether or not the Mazda 3 lamp would fit, he said no but he always considered and wanted to do one for the Matrix. When I informed him that the Trix and Vibe are identical and I would provide him my setup for a template, he jumped at the idea. All I had to pay was the shipping of my lamp assembly to him. I paid nothing more out of pocket than $10 to ship it to Canada. He sent me the finished product with my stock lamp assembly back after just over a month. I installed it and had some small difficulties with the tabs. It took a little DIY work to get them right with some velcro and foam. If you check out my other post you can see the fix I pulled that looks pretty good actually. So all in all for me it was not horrifying by any means. There have been many people who have had good experiences with theirs as well. He has sold over 100 of them so far, but negativity does spread more than positive review. 1 person tells ten people, they tell ten more each, etc. But either way I was happy and still am as it works and looks like a nice professionally made product.

Well like I said, I cannot speak for anyone else and I was by no means in direct contact with this person. We exchanged solely through email, then shipping. I got my product it was good, the first batch sent out were fine. The person only does this in his spare time, it is not a permanent job, he works in a facility that gives him access to these tools. So it could have been that he was caught out for using company equipment (granted his own parts though) and decided to bail out albeit in a wrong way.But for me personally I was contacted by a few people asking to talk to him and what not, but I was not a middle man of any sense. I provided my own lamp, got it back along with the new product, installed it, and he started selling them just a few weeks later once he made batch #1. So for me it was a complete personal endeavor that once completed I offered a link for those to buy from. That was all, never had any $$$ flowing to me or any contact with the person afterwards. So my experience was good, it sucks for the others, and I do feel bad, but I also think people need to realize that buying products online is never a safe endeavor. I know it worked well for me and I promoted it when I got it cause it worked well, was built of good quality and had no complaints. But when you see only one product that is hand crafted by one person for a group, it is not the same as going to Autozone and getting a set of APC taillamps for your 92-95 Civic hatchback. And as for defending my own opinion, it has been done several times already both here and on MO, my position has been explained and nobody has called me out for any kind of scamming or mistrust. It worked for me, it worked for a few others, things went south after a little while and that's that. When I was on XtremeSaturn.com years ago there was a kid who had his own shop for Saturn performance. He created a CF hood for the later model SC's. Well after 10 orders at $600 a piece he closed his doors, the website/forum he had that had over 5k members was no longer active, and he ended up facing litigations and such. So I can relate to people being ripped off. On the other hand I bought my products from SPS (Saturn Performance Specialist). Out of Ohio with their own racing team of Saturn SC's that did the One Laps and other auto X events, they were reliable and always had a good stock.
