I got a letter from something called "I. C. System, Inc.", claiming to be a collection agency trying to collect $7.68 and that my "account has been turned over to them". I called Verizon to let them know, I paid my bill on the 11th in full, as always, and they verified this and made a note of it. Verizon told me not to respond to it. Verizon said that it doesn't have my actual Verizon account number or phone number on it and doesn't have their logo on it, it may be a scam, which would make sense because a $7.68 balance would have just been added to my NEXT Verizon bill if it was short. Anybody in St. Paul, MN. know if this is a legit business???
I haven't heard of them, but I'm in St. Cloud... (50 miles away) Maybe BC would know....Hmm... I looked them up:Ic Systems Inc444 Highway 96 E Saint Paul, MN 55127 (651) 483-8201Website: http://www.icsystem.com/
This is what's on the letter:P.O. Box 64380St. Paul, MN, 55164-038024/7 Toll-Free No. 866/323-8596Mon-Fri 7:00 A.M-9:30 PMSat 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. CT(there is no reference to a website on this letter, other than that I can pay online at your payment dot com ) I'm still reading it over with a fine tooth comb for the misspelled words, typos, and the words "regards", etc. If it is a scam, it's pretty authentic-looking complete with Espanol.And they got my address wrong

google that toll free phone number, if it is legit you get a company name, if not you will get the results that google shows for 866-323-8596.

I did call the state office of consumer protection, and now I have a form to print, fill out and send so they can investigate it (if it is a legit P.O. box, etc.)

MN can be by On Line Complaint FormReference: http://www.ag.state.mn.us/Hope this helpsHoward in MN. (schroeder)
As long as you contact Verizon, and they will verify that you are NOT late, they will make a note of it that you received a spam letter. I did not contact these "IC" people.I'm glad you bumped this up...beware everybody, the latest scam on Verizon customers is you will get a text, claiming "UR on track to incur overage charges..."then the next day or so you will get a call from this number:888-453-1918. I Googled it, as I googled all unknown numbers as I'm on the Do Not Call List (and will be reporting this to the donotcall.gov) it's a scam.http://www.hellaphone.com/2009...users/
they are a real company and do collections. But the way you received your letter is fishy. I have heard nothing but bad things about them online, how they harass people etc. yuck. If verizon didnt authorize it I would do as someone else stated and talk to the atty general or ignore it for now.
Since your bill is clear with Verizon, check your credit report. Make sure no one is using your name & stole you ID. You can get a free report from: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jspI just checked my report earlier this month & found two errors. Always good to check once a year anyway. You can actually check it every 4 months for free because Equifax, Transunion & Experian EACH offer one per year. Just get on from each 4 months apart. The REPORT is free but if you want your credit SCORE it will run about 8 bucks.

I have placed a second fraud alert. Due to an unrelated situation, the F T C advised me to get a copy of my credit report, which I just tried to call Experian, and the automated message said I'm "unable to obtain a free copy" (WHY??!! I haven't seen a report since 2006 when I ReFi) I tried to see if I would get connected to a live person, but no, it didn't. I'm going to wait for the fraud alert confirmation letter, which will have my report code, and try and call again. Maybe I used the report number from the last alert? I don't know what else to think.
~~~~~~~~~~~Another Verizon alert!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I just found a fishy email from "AccountNotify@verizonwireless" with an attachment, and subject line "No Subject", size is 9kb. I did **NOT** open it because it was way too suspicious...*I have never seen an email from Verizon from this address before*I think it's fishy how the "AccountNotify" part is capitalized and not "verizonwireless"*It's just strange how there's no subject!! Marked as SCAM and DELETED!
