Hooking up wires for sub?

Post by JustinVGT »

I have a Bazooka sub RS8A-HP, with the built in amp that I am thinking about transfering from my old car to my Vibe. Does anyone know where the best place is to take the power wire through the firewall? Since the stock head unit doesn't have the preamp outputs, I'll need to connect to the rear speakers. Anyone know the best way to connect to the rear speakers? There are the small rubber tubes that have the stock wires between the door and B pillar, but I don't know how I would get inside the B pillar. Any help appreciated.Thanks.

I checked with a flash light and didn't see any besides the ones that are already used for all the current wiring and I don't know how I could pass a wire through those. Can anyone out there that has installed their amps or other equipment needing to go through the firewall in the Vibe give me some tips where they found a good place?

Here is what I did when i had my 98 s-10 (and it was a lease). I got a real nice drill bit that would go through steel found a spot high up under the carpet on the inside of the car (making sure not to go into anything inside the engine compartment). And drilled a new hole!!!If your hooking up a power cable to a good size amp use a big power cable mine was 4 gauge. I also had a nice inline fuse from Phonix Gold. And I used Gold connectors. Your also going to need run a power line from the radio so when the radio is turned on the amp knows to turn on. Hooking up from the speakers I took the door apart and spliced the wire there. that way you know which wires are what and where they are going.Your ground, keep it as short as you can, keep it clean, keep it dry, i even sand the paint off the car where the ground goes and then spray the area afterwords with corrosion protection spray.
