I ordered my Vibe late March and was told 8-10 weeks. Now the dealer tells me it isn't scheduled to be built 'til late July! She is looking for one in existing inventory but if I don't get one in 2 weeks I'm going to give her both barrels and unleash a barrage of expletives. Any body else out there order in late March. I'm from London, Ontario.
Not bashing Pontiac by any means but 4 months is a little much. My wife and I went to the local Toyota dealer to check out the Matrix's yesterday and they had 2 XR's and 3 XRS's. The sales man said it would take about 2 weeks for them to get a ordered matrix in.
There was a fellow from Montreal who waited 12 weeks.I ordered 6 weeks ago and I'm still waiting. I was told 6-8 weeks originally so my salesman is going to get a call this week as I sold my only car this week and will be biking to work shortly.

I have a question... maybe a silly question but really the only car experience I have is with my Cavalier. I want to lease a Vibe when my Cavalier lease expires in 4 months. If I have to wait 4 months to get a Vibe should I order it now? I really have no idea what happens when my lease expires...

I put in my order for a Vibe GT on April 6th. Just got off the phone with the GM Drive customer center (1-800-463-7483), gave them my order number. They told me that it's still on hold because of the monotone paint option I wanted! Ack! TWO dealers told me that ordering with that option won't cause any problems, now I know that they were feeding me a bunch of crap just to get the order. At least the GM Drive dude was sympathetic... hopefully I'll get it before my planned road trip.. in August!
I'm at 6 weeks and waiting. I was told 2-3 months when ordering.I order Vibe base Silver/Mags/Alarm in Montreal

Cristen - Is your Cav leased? Right now GM has a lease pull-ahead program going. If you have a car that is scheduled to run it's course in the coming months you can trade it in now.

I ordered my Vibe in April, (6 weeks ago). When I ordered it, I was told 8-10 weeks as the "Worst Case scenario"; 6-8 weeks "Best Case scenario". Therefore, I planned to have it by the end of June. It would take a miracle for it to arrive in the next few weeks, as I have just been inform my Vibe order has not been issued a build date!
I ordered my Vibe in early March and was told to expect delivery in 9 weeks. I recently got a build date of June 24 (but was told they were running 1.5 weeks behind) so I probably won't see it until early August. I have been phoning GM Canada almost daily for an explanation but they only tell me that they "are swamped and building as fast as they can". The Vibe may be a good car but I can't recommend any GM product after this.
Hey MA-VIBE-FAN, I suppose it's a case of who I think is telling me the least lies - the dealer, with a potential sale (and therefore more likely to tell me something more pleasing to my ears) or a customer service dude who doesn't own to me or anybody on what the deal is. It is possible that both parties are being told to keep to the script, but it still ticks me off...The part that burns me is that the Toyota dealership had XRS scattered all over the lot when I decided to order the Vibe, but didn't have any incentive (i.e. GM VISA, etc) for me to buy it. Me bad.
Hi Bob, I'm curious, did you order your Vibe with the montone paint as well? Or anything different from standard equipment? Particular color? I'm just trying to draw a picture in my head on how these things work...
I ordered the Shadow (dark grey) so I decided not to go for the monotone paint option. I ordered a base FWD with the power package, safety package, auto tranny and upgraded stereo. Nothing that should cause any delay. GM is full of BS if they are claiming your delay is due to the monotone paint option.
Ordered the Matrix before the car even came out in early Feb. and took delivery almost 4 months later in late May. Could have had the car since Feb 8th but the dealor sold the car for someone else. They ordered another one and the same thing happened. I've posted a thread at:http://www.matrixvibe.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=439

I ordered my shadow gt with the monotone package at the end of April...the dealership told me 6-8 weeks, 10 at the latest. I called the other day since it has been almost 6 weeks and as of right now my car doesn't even have a build date! I will be lucky to get it before the end of summer!
quote: http://www.donlen.com/Whats_New/new_pro ... rs_gm.html Thanks for the above post MA-VIBE-FAN!According to that info the way I ordered my car could take up to 24 weeks to build my car, a base vibe with anti-lock brakes. My salesman originally told me 8-10 weeks, the standard build time. Then he told me that when a customer orders a car it gets to the head of the line ahead of cars for dealer stock. He called it "preferenced". So my preferenced delivery time should be 6-7 weeks. Well tomorrow is 7 weeks and he doesn't have a build date. 130Meow, what did you have to do to get a free loaner? I sold my car based on his delivery time so now I am biking. How did you argue for a free loaner? Ken.

To get a loaner vehicle you have to make the salesperson believe you are going to walk away from the deal. On the back of your contract it states that the dealer must deliver the vehicle to you within so many days(90 days comes to mind but I'm not sure) or you can get out of the deal. Emphasize that you will be taking your business elsewhere, perhaps a Matrix. Option 2 is to go to the Dealer on a busy Saturday and be very loud. Good Luck.
Hey All! My salesman is sticking to his original estimate. His advise was to stop reading the net. My dealer ordered vibes just before I did and they have received them. They haven't heard anything from GM to say the Vibe's Lead time is out of wack despite what we read at http://www.donlen.com/Whats_New/new_pro ... rs_gm.html Good luck to all those waiting..... Ken._________________Cheers, Ken.

GM told me today that I should get my Vibe in about 6 weeks. It was ordered March 8 and has a build date of June 24. This works out to about 20 weeks from order to delivery. I recommend talking to GM directly (phone works better than email) to see if they have a build date for you. In my case GM had a lot more information than my salesman.

Think of this... getting the car now means putting ur car on the street and subject to things like rocks dings, and scratches from those who can't drive or choose to open their doors the full 90 or so degress in parking lots and BANG.... I've already got a big rock ding on the bumper..... sigh...When I learned that Toyota actaully sold the car to someone else, I had to urge to just drop the order, demand the deposit back, and go for another car. Before deciding on the Matrix, my other choices was the V6 Altima and the RSX Premium. However, giving up probably just mean handing your car to a lucky person who won't have to wait for the full 4 or so months!!!!

Just heard back from GM Canada that they won't offer any compensation for the ridiculous amount of time they are taking to deliver my Vibe. Have a Jimmy that's due for replacement in a year or so, not sure what I'll buy but it won't be a GM.
Bob:My car is due July3rd. If it is not available, my holidays are screwed I plan to ask for a loaner until my car is delivered. If no loaner I plan to advise them I will cancel and buy something else. Will they care? Who knows. I know there isn't another GM I will buy (can't afford a vette )You could try the above. Let us know cheers, Ken.[Modified by kshields, 4:10 PM 6/14/2002]

Your best bet for a loaner will be through the dealer, GM doesn't seem to care. We have a second vehicle so at least our holidays are ok. Dealer gave us the option of cancelling the order, tempted to buy a Celica instead but the vibe suits our needs far better. Good luck getting a loaner, it's the least GM should do.
My friend asked the Pontiac dealer in Kingston how long the wait list is for the vibe and was told 5 months. They've stopped advertising them and don't even have one to test drive. I think I'm going to see about ordering one for when my lease is up in October. Do you think GM would let me keep my Cavalier until the Vibe is ready, if my Vibe hasn't arrived by the time my lease is due? If I don't have a car, I'm going to lose my parking spot in my apartment.
I spoke with GM after reading your posting. They have actually moved my build date up from June 24 to this week (June 17). I still won't believe it's built until I see it. I have been harassing them constantly for the last month by phone and email. Not sure if that has helped but it's worth a try.Bob
Hi we ordered our Vibe on Feb. 23 and still haven't received it. It is on it's way now. My friends are getting the matrix and they have to wait till Sept. So I'm hoping that it will get here from ont. in two weeks. They told us that we would get it in 3 months max. It now has been 4 months. so be patient. They told me that it would take 19 business days to get to victoria. Thanks for you eyes!
Hey, a Pontiac Salesperson from Sewell Pontiac has been posting this week. Why don't those who have orderd cars ask him about how much information Pontiac gives the dealers about how many Vibes they are going to get and when, Weekly order restrictions, etc. He may even be able to get info about your orders if you give him Pontiac order numbers. Maybe interesting, even though Sewell is in Texas USA, and most order problems are for Canadian Vibers.
Hi again, In my experience the dealers are not reliable when it comes to that sort of information. They seem to be more occupied with making a sale. Case in point when I test drove a Vibe in March the dealer told me that the GTs and AWD would not be produced until October or so. I new otherwise of course. He was more interested in selling the Vibe on the lot instead of what I really wanted. It's funny that they did indeed have a GT on the lot 2 weeks later though. Just keep in mind that GM has no control over the dealerships so the dealers can say what they want without any repercussions. Jon
Just heard that the build date for my Vibe has been moved from June 17 to July 8. Do not order a Vibe unless you want to wait 20 - 25 weeks for delivery. The only explanation GM has given me so far is that it is "such a great and popular car". I should have known better and bought a Celica off the lot.
My sympathies to all those who have been waiting so long for your vibes. I guess i just got lucky, they had the one i wanted on the lot. Saw it march10 and drove it of the lot march12th.

Bob:See http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=203 My salesman is sending me my order number...He isn't calling what I have a build date but a preferrence. Have you ever heard that term anyone?

Well, I thought I was immune to the bad news I was reading here. But alas, I was told by gmcanada today that I will be waiting until the end of August for my basic vibe (salsa, power, manual). I too was told 8 weeks when it was ordered on April 15th. I called gmcanada after getting a very vague answer from my sales rep. in Windsor, ON.The lease on my transport ends on June 29. I called gmac leasing and had it extended until the end of August.
Thank you for your post!! I was wondering if I ordered a Vibe and it didn't come in until after my lease was up (in October) if GMAC would extend it until my Vibe came. I think next week I will go see about ordering one... its just such a pain going to dealerships.
