2009 Vibe Window Tinting ?

Post by vpicard01111 »

Hello,I'm thinking of getting my window tinted on my 2009 Vibe 2.4L 1SC (Carbon Grey). I'm wondering what tint % should I get 35% all around or 35% for the front windows and 20% for the back windows ? Or even 50% on the fronts... ?I know the legal limit in Quebec is 70% but apparently, 35% for the front windows is usually well tolerated even in Quebec... Does anyone had bad experience with 35% tint on the front windows in Quebec? Please post 2009 Vibes with tinted windows (and % done) so I can get see how it will look. Thanks !

i honestly think having the same % tint all around looks best. if you're worry about getting pulled over then i think 35% all around should be safe. 50% is not even worth the money.i originally got 35% all around but one week later got a second layer of $35 for the rear because it felt too lighthere's a pic of the front 35% and rear 35%X2but the uneven look got to me so here's with 20% all around

Can you let me know as well what kind of film did you use and how much did you pay ?Looks like pricing in Ottawa is arround 250$ + tax for all window. I check a couple of places seem to vary (200-350$) depending on quality of film. I'm not sure which kind is good enough. Thanks

I paid $190 for Sun-Gard tint film. I don't know if it's "good" though as I got it done very recently and I'm sure all tint looks good when it's new.

You're allowed to tint the front windshield? I'm pretty sure that's not allowed here...

it's illegal to tint the whole windshield in any state here, but it's pretty light so it's not too noticeable. 60% isn't that dark. i've also had 70% and 50% before, 50% was bit too much and 70% was a bit too less so i went 60% lol

Yes I did call Apple Autoglass for a quote. Thanks for Autotrendz. He told me that 3/4 of people got installed 35% in the front windows at his shop don't get bothered by cops in Quebec.Odds of getting a ticket in Quebec looks like their low at 35% all around so i'll probably do that.Anyone know people that got pulled over in Quebec for 35% tint all around ?Thanks!

honestly i don't think cops will pull you over just for window tint. they usually pull you over for something else and just slap you with a tint ticket while they're at it lol. i've had 20% on my previous car for over 2 years without having any problem...only time i got a ticket was that one time i cut off some car and the car came behind me. gave me ticket for tint =/ if you drive safe and don't break the law then you should be fine

I've done some homework in Ottawa re: tinting and spoken to a ton of cops in Ottawa about it (I work for OPS). I'm going to Langlois on Mcarthur in Vanier. $249.00 for 35% up fromt and %18 aroung the rest. I happened to check the place out after they had finished a black Matrix and they let me into the garage to take a look. They did an unbeleivable job *edit: they use Madico film the rest use Llumar*. Autotrendz was the best price at $229.00 even though Derand offered to do it for $200.00 even (under the table?), but that place has always given me a bad vibe (pardon any accidental pun).As for Quebec cops, I've heard of them scraping it off roadside, but that would probably be a rarity. I had the %35 & %18 on my old car and was always in Gatineau and never had a problem. Ottawa shouldn't bother you.BTW if you get pulled over, the first thing you do, rain, sleet or shine is roll the window down for the officer and ask them how they are. They honestly appreciate it.

I am not sure about the tinting laws in Canada, but I did the darkest you can go legally on the front windows in Texas, with is 35%, and I did 20% on the rear windows... I think I should have gone darker, but on my last Vibe, I did limo all the way around, and I had problems reversing at night....As you can see though 35% is a bit light, but I have to obey the law of the land now that the fine has been raised to 275 bucks, when it used to only be 65...
