Will the new Matrix Belt Tensioner Part #16620-22013 work on a 2003 VibeIt is mentioned in this TSB http://www.z-car.com/gallery/m...d=569My Vibe is a 2003 with the 1ZZFE engineI cant see why not but just want to make sure before I buy it
I don't know if anyone is going to be able to say if it works until you try it and let us know. I think Vibes and Matrixes have different belt lengths due to differences inthe AC system. It would be good to be able to compare a Vibe one and a Matrix one before you drop the money, and you don't really want to take yours off then drive to the toyota dealership without a belt.
This was for my 2003 vibe but I think this part will fit 03 and newer 1ZZFE enginesWell I ordered #TOYOTA PART #16620-22013GENUINE OEM TOYOTA PART from a guy on ebay. He had a bunch for sale brand new. This is the new one from Toyota. It is suppose to fix the problem of these failing too soon.It was 119.00 Shipped to Canada. I installed it tonight and it was a perfect fit. So easy to install as well.I used a 19mm wrench to loosen the belt. I just took part of the belt off and left it all hanging in place. Then I loosened the motor mount bolts onthe passenger side. I did not take them right out just backed them out so they were almost out. I then put a small piece of wood under the oilpan and used the factory jack to jack the engine up a little. You have to do this in order to get the main bolt off the tensioner as there is not enough clearance.I then took off the nut of the top of the tensioner shock with a 12mm wrenchThen I used a 17mm wrench to get the main bolt out, it is torques to about 50lbs so you will need a breaker bar or just use the two wrench trick like I did. double wrench it, by using 2 combination wrench's, ( full size, not shortys) using the box end on the bolt, just hook the box end of the second over the jaw of the other. It will give you the leverage you need. the second wrench doesn't even have to be the same size, one size larger works.Once it was out I just put the other one back in, put all the main bolt back on and the 12mm shock nut. I lowered the engine and tighten up the motor mount bolts, 3 of them. Then I used a 19mm wrench to pull back on the tensioner in ordered to put the belt back one.Easy! And not my car does not sound like a diesel anymore!
