The method I used to optimize audio settings on my 09 Vibe GT

Post by jerryn »

Hi, I've got an 09 Pontiac Vibe GT with the 320W Monsoon stereo. I tend to use my IPOD 98% of he time with the line-in. Here's what I did to optimize sound. First, adjust your bass to 100%, then back off by 1 level. Next adjust your midrange to 1 level below 50%. Adjust Treble to 100% and then back off by 1 level. Connect your IPOD to the AUX in.. turn up your volume on the head unit and the IPOD at 100%. I selected RUSH Spirit of Radioon my Replay X3 album. There would be a long rolling thunder sound that will turn into some white noise and then a live audience cheering. Back off slowly on the audio out from your IPOD during the rolling thunder sound until the distorion stopped. Leave the volume on your head unit untouched. Amazing.. sounds great!now.. que up a song with a wide dynamic range. I used Tom Petty - Saving Grace since the song builds up volume.. It sounds great! If you want to attempt louder volumes you can always check to see if your glovebox is vibrating.. easy fix with a small rubber strip.. or if your door panel is vibrating.. I fixed that on my Honda Element with Acoustic Paper. When using acoustic paper I usually remove the speaker and create a washer like insert that is mounted underneeth the spearker ... this way the door panel's vibration from the bass is dampened. If anyone has ever installed an IPOD line adapter and if it sounds as good or better than using aux in let me know. For know I'm satisfied witha line in and dropping IPOD in the front compartment of the center console.

I hate to say it homeboy, but you are on the path to blown speakers... MAXing any boost setting on a HU is just asking for larger levels of distortion and/or clipping from the amp.. For every 3db of output you have to double power.. Consider that when you crank anything in an EQ past the 3 mark.. (usually the numbers represent db of boost/cut)I'm glad it's working for you, but it's not the best route to take to achieve audio bliss.. Q!

I know that the speakers are rivitted to the door on a 2009 Vibe. The Service Manual tells you how to replace the speakers.
