New to forum ~ check engine light & window problems

Post by L. Calahan »

Hi,I didn't know about this forum until I started trying to do some research about a couple problems I have with my 2004 Vibe. I have 61,000 miles on it. I have the oil changed regularly and regular maintenance. First the window clicking problem that the dealer was supposed to fix is not fixed. Second, this past week my check engine light came on and the dealer had the car all day yesterday and still hasn't given me an answer about what is the problem. Can anyone help me?I read somewhere there is a way to manually "snug" up the windows by the owner. Is that an option? Thanks!

Thanks bull77!You're awesome! At least now I will sound like I know something when I talk to the dealership and they won't try to rip me off since I'm a female! LOL!I've been copying and pasting possible fixes to a document so I can ask if they checked those things. Also I found some advice for the window. Wish I had come here a long time ago! L. Calahan

Hi,I finally heard from the dealer after a day and a half!!! Grrrr!I asked for the codes and they are:PO441,PO442, PO446Sounds like small evap leaks? Is that correct? Probably will cost me an arm and a leg. Next time I will go to AutoZone or Pepboys first! Thanks for the help. By the way, my Vibe is dark metallic blue with a sun roof and looks just about like the one in bull77's photo! Have a great day!

I had this issues once with my cavalier and after taking it to the dealer 3 times each for a day they finally figured out that there was a loose wire. It had to do with my gas cap and it being tight and the damn cavalier not realizing it.I'm convinced that for the 3 days they just stood there looking at the cap tightening it then seeing the light still on and begun the circle again. I can just see 4 mechanics looking and the gas cap not knowing what to do.

yep, could be the evaporator hose going to the gas tank. It actually was a pretty common item on the Corolla and early model Vibes 03-04. They'll have to unbolt your rear seat to get to it. If this turns out to be the problem, make sure you look down and ensure the seat is bolted back onto the floor (unlike my seat ). the gas cap could be the culprit, although I don't think it throws more than one code for the cap not being on tight enough. Good luck LC!

Thanks,Yep, that's what they said. The gas cap wasn't on tight! I'm not sure though, I always tighten it after I fill up but maybe I slipped up. Who knows? After all that, they charged me $108.00. I know that isn't alot when it comes to car repairs but still, I think I could have gotten off cheaper if I had gone to AutoZone or PepBoys first. Live and Learn!!Thanks to this forum, I'll know better next time.
