Erm, this one is kind of out of the box...

Post by zathrak »

Yeah, this is kind of out of the box but to make a long story short, in an attempt to learn more about the Pontiac Torrent '09, I discovered that that were virtually no managed and/or updated communities like this one for it, and I was very sad. Having said that, I decided I would make one. I like genvibe and will have started modeling the Torrent site after it, but there is one issue...I need to find other Torrent enthusiasts...much like we have Vibe enthusiasts here :-)So, I hope people here don't take this wrong because I am a big fan of this site here, but I would like to have this same type of community that are Torrent owners and such. The problem is that I don't know how to get people in to the community. Many times, it's a matter of "I know someone, who knows someone, etc..." and I wonder if any of you have any productive suggestions or can help get this community started in the right direction much like this one. Pontiac love! :-D(Edit: I suppose I should include the link so you don't have to ask lol. Remember, this is just a beginning. http://pontiactorrent.forums-free.com/)

for starters, is there a reason you do not want to use the Edmunds forum?

The edmunds forum is poorly constructed and quite outdated with little to no traffic."...and I wonder if any of you have any productive suggestions..."

I wasn't here when this one started, so I can only guess why it became what it did.Genvibe opened it's door to the public on 4/1/2002, which was very early for Vibes. At that time, there had been only 2554 Vibes sold in the US. There was a unique "newness" to the car. Torrents have been out there since what, 2006? Genvibe had a lot of novelty associated with the model the Torrent no longer has. This novelty made the first genvibers really curious and daring. It was all new, people had to explore their vehicle and share discoveries. Not sure you can harness that in the Torent community. Seems hard to get the new 09 vibers to take the risks the early 03 vibers did. While Vibes and Matrixes are siblings, the GM/Toyota differences helped form supporters of each into relatively separate communities. Torrents are effectively Chevy Equinoxes, if I'm not mistaken, both GM. Have you looked for a decent Equinox forum? When you run your own forum, you'll have to pay attention to things like this thread, which according to the layout of the forums, should probably go in either "the Others" or "Off Topic", not "The Vibe Lounge" I searched your posts, in http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...49159 you said you gave up on Torrents because you needed better mpgs. Did you decide to get one after all? If not, then why do you want to run a Torrent forum?

flyers and or stickers. see a torrent put a flyer on it. put a sticker on your car like the genvibe.com stickers.and lastly INFO. most people stumble on forums looking for info bout their car. get a fixit manual on cd and put it on the site. only registered people can view it. ive seen this done a few sites.

Have you contacted any Torrent owners through Car Domain yet? There are currently 19 Torrent owners on there. It's a start any way.

Man, I hardly ever see them on the road so I wish you luck haha. I personally think the GXP is very sharp, don't know why there are SOOOO few of them.Going off what Joatmon said, the fact that the Matrix was the same car I think helped a little bit even though they created separate forums, because people with Japanese cars are more inclined to become "tuners" than the ones who buy the American version. That's where a lot of the people who modify their cars came from I think...because they knew the Vibe at heart was Toyota. Generally people that buy American grocery getters don't mod them in comparison to the Japanese grocery getters that are very popular to mod in Japan Basically, "TOTALLY JDM DUDE!!! JDM FTW!"
